I’m heartbroken. I’m furious. And I’m tired.
A beautiful little girl, Jocelynn Rojo Carranza, only in sixth grade, took her own life because she was tormented by bullies threatening to rip her family apart—telling her they would call ICE on her parents, that she’d be left alone in this world. Imagine the fear. The helplessness. The pain.
This is not just “kids being kids.” This is hate. This is racism. This is a system failing our children. How many more do we have to lose before people wake up? Before schools take bullying seriously? Before society stops treating immigrant families like they’re disposable?
To Jocelynn’s family—I can’t even begin to understand your pain, but I grieve with you. No child should ever feel like this world has no place for them. No parent should ever have to bury their baby because of cruelty.
We have to be better. We have to protect our kids. We have to SPEAK UP.
Rest in power, Jocelynn. You mattered. You were loved. And we won’t forget you.
