(To all of the fans over the past 20 years)
Itâs sad to announce that we wonât be opening for this 2018 season. That to be said I believe everyone needs to know whatâs been going on. For the past couple of years we have been battling it out with our wonderful city of âWashington Court Houseâ and our wonderful neighbors that built a house literally 100 feet away from the haunted house. We have been getting called on for a ânoise complaintâ. Court house sheriffs department was called up to 60 times a night, sometimes a cop would come out and said they have got a call of a noise complaint before the haunt was even open. They would wait around and tell us they didnât hear anything worth complaining about. But even though the cops said it wasnât loud and even though we were told to our faces by the city that there was no noise zoning in the country, we were still denied our permits to open this year. This haunt has been here for 20 years and was here before most of the houses on this road. We have helped this little town get recognized and known by bringing in people from not only out of town but out of state as well. We have done charity work for disabled schools and helped keep the kids of this community off the streets by giving them something to do on the weekends other than get in trouble but someone who has only lived next to us for only 2 years, and knew we were here when they moved in, won over us simply because of their last name and the people they know. Unfortunately in a small town people canât stand anyone who is doing something better than them and life is all about what family you come from. We were told that we could appeal the decision but if we were to do that and open again we would not be allowed to have any chainsaws or music and our customers wouldnât even be allowed to scream and we feel as though it wouldnât be fair to you all to not have the best show possible. But this wonât be the last of us. Weâve had plans for awhile to expand anyway so I guess the silver lining is that this gives us the perfect reason to. The search is already under way for new property. We WILL be back and weâll be bigger and better than ever. Thank all of you guys for these past 20 years theyâve been the best ever and weâll be back to give you guys another 20 years and more. We love you guys đ¤
