Looking for the perfect excuse to get outside, enjoy the beautiful weather, and spend time with family? Look no further! June 18th is International Picnic Day, and here at the Fayette County Family YMCA, we love any holiday that combines healthy eating with active family time in nature.
Whether you're heading to a local park or just setting up a blanket in your own backyard, weβve put together the ultimate checklist and a crowd-pleasing, fresh recipe to make your picnic planning a breeze.
π The Ultimate Picnic Checklist
Don't leave the house without these essentials to keep your picnic comfortable, safe, and fun:
The Setup: A large, sturdy blanket (bonus points if it has a waterproof backing!) or a portable pop-up table and chairs.
The Cooler: Plenty of ice packs to keep your fresh food and drinks at a safe temperature.
The Gear: Reusable plates, utensils, napkins, a trash bag to leave the park clean, and a wet cloth or wet wipes for sticky hands.
Sun & Bug Protection: Sunscreen and bug spray are a must for outdoor fun.
YMCA Style Activities: Bring along a frisbee, a football, a deck of cards, or a soccer ball to get everyone moving after you eat!
