The Cape May County Board of Commissioners has partnered with the Middle Township Recreation Department to provide the Township with use of recreation fields at Cape May County Park South for Youth Football and Cheerleading practices this fall.

Four youth football teams and their cheerleading squads will have afterschool access to the County Park South facilities form July 21 – November 21, 2026.

This temporary use of county fields is necessary while Middle Township’s Goshen Sports Complex undergoes major renovations. The upgrades to the Township’s main hub for youth sports are supported by funding through the Cape May County Open Space Program.

Youth sports build character, teamwork, and strong community bonds. To promote these opportunities, Cape May County is proud to partner with Middle Township to support our young athletes.

Thank you to the coaches, volunteers and parents who make it possible for our kids!

Josh Wright is the MTML Player of the Night! Wright was unstoppable scoring 41 points and grabbing 12 rebounds to lead Team Green (4-4) to a 90-73 win over Team Orange (0-8) last night at Middle Township Recreation's MLK Center on Main Street in Whitesboro. Wright is one of only four players in MTML league history to score 40 points or more in a single game. The three other players to accomplish the feat are Dashaw Hawkins, Desean Lopez and Diante Miles. Wright also contributed 4 assists in the win. "I'm just glad we got the win," he said, unselfishly. Coming into last night's game, Wright had 8 total three-pointers made. He nearly matched that number, making 7 three's and putting his season total at 15. Wright's teammate Daniel "Dream" Bennett scored his MTML career-high 21 points in the win. Josh Johnson and Omarion McNeal each added 11 points for Team Green. Patrick Merino led the way for Orange scoring 28 points which included 6 three pointers. Merino's teammate Lamar Crawley added 18 points in the loss.
The much anticipated battle for second-place saw Team Red (5-2) defeat Team Blue (5-3) 106-80. Team Red's 106 points is a new record for points scored in one night. The previous record (100) was held by Team Blue. Team Red had six players score in double figures in the win. Dashaw Hawkins led the team scoring with 24 points. Diante Miles (21), Reggie Hunter (17), Keith Palek (15), Aydan Howell (13) and Ivy Linthicum (11). Team Red played smothering defense never allowing Blue's key players to get started. Red led 47-25 at halftime. Team Red did not relinquish its lead at any point in the win. "Downtown" Dave Zarfati finished with 26 points for Blue, including 5 three-pointers. Zarfati finishes the regular season as the league leader in three pointers made (34). Martin Anguelove added 13 points, while teammates Miles Sapp, Tayshaun Jackson and Mike Zarfati each added 11 points in the loss.
The regular season concludes tonight at 6 P.M. with Team Black (6-1) facing Team Red (5-2). The winner will be the number 1 seed in the playoffs. Red defeated Black earlier this season and owns the tie-breaker.

Middle Township regrets to announce that the June 6, 2026 “Savor the Arts” event at the Ockie Wisting Complex has been cancelled.

While we were looking forward to celebrating the incredible talent of our local artists, performers, musicians, craft vendors, and community partners, circumstances beyond our control have made it necessary to postpone this year’s event. We sincerely thank everyone who planned to participate and support this special community celebration.

The Township remains deeply committed to supporting the arts and showcasing the creativity that makes our hometown unique.

We are excited to announce that plans are already underway for a new community event coming this Fall.
