The Design Science Studio is a decade-long anticipatory art and design-driven accelerator for (r)evolutionary creators. It focuses on inspiring and creating Planetary Solutions for a world that works for 100% of life. With a cluster of visionary mentors and using Buckminster Fuller’s Comprehensive Anticipatory Design Science principles, cohorts of 144 international creators build culture-shifting

projects that promote solutions for a world where all beings thrive. The Design Science Studio is a key component of the Design Science Decade - an educational incubator for designing and creating projects that enable the global transformational decade, leading us to a regenerative future. It’s an effort to bring back the era-defining efforts of visionary art schools like the Bauhaus with the certainty that the future is always first an idea and that anticipatory design can and must create cultural change. We are in a time of radical systems change as Humanity has the potential to realign itself with Nature. The global pandemic is shedding light on over-industrialization, alienation from nature, and othering as some of the primary root causes of global inequality, illness, poverty and environmental degradation. At the same time the pandemic is uniting humanity as a global community that can quickly react with purpose to bring forth action, nurturing and generosity. The Design Science Studio will respond to this fragile and transformational moment by ARTiculating the possibility of a healthy world via a decade of non-violent, design-led, creativity-expressed revolution.

the incubator and maker’s space. A place for deep conversations about art, philosophy, anticipatory design science, things related to the world of ideas, synergetics, and new ways of building.

a place to imagine the future of living in harmony with nature and each other. Ponder the gifts of the universe, and be grateful for the possibilities ahead.

The 🎨 Art District 🎨 is 
a genuine and colorful neighborhood. In it, you can discover art in almost every street. This is a place for inspiration and co-creation. Here artists co-create and share their regenerative work.

Whichever neighborhood you’re drawn to, we thank you for letting us plant the seeds of this protopian world in your heart.

Together, we will help shift and propel the next hundred years of evolutionary progress at the intersection of design, art and science.

Because the future is not something happening later. For one weekend, creators of regenerative futures gather to celebrate what has been built, launch what is emerging and practice the world we wish to inhabit.

This is a moment to reconnect with your imagination, your agency, your community and your role in shaping what comes next.

Instead of a traditional “Independence” celebration, imagine a long weekend spent swimming in a pond beneath weeping willows, sharing regenerative meals, gathering around campfires, encountering immersive art, engaging in meaningful conversations and participating in a temporary village dedicated to regenerative futures.

Equal parts summit, campout, celebration and living laboratory, regen·era Rising invites participants into a culture of curiosity, creativity, connection and collective imagination.

Expect immersive art, performances, special musical guests, Afrofuturist and solarpunk storytelling, thought leadership, salons, workshops, land rituals, creative interventions, regenerative prototypes, worldbuilding experiences, radical play and unexpected encounters—all woven into a living experiment in what regenerative culture can feel like when we create it together.

For the past seven months, the artists, designers, cultural producers and worldbuilders of the Design Science Studio have been developing visionary projects for regenerative futures.

regen·era Rising marks the culmination of that journey, featuring project launches, immersive experiences, social sculptures, creative interventions, regenerative prototypes and opportunities to engage directly with the creators shaping what comes next.

Alongside this year’s graduating coheART, experiences and projects from across the broader Design Science Studio ecosystem will be woven throughout the village, drawing from more than 280 projects incubated through DSS over the course of the Design Science Decade.

It takes a village to build a village.

Every year, regen·era Rising comes to life through an incredible team of volunteers, stewards and work exchange participants who help weave the village into being. Whether you’re supporting installations, welcoming guests, tending shared spaces, helping in the kitchen, assisting with production or caring for the flow of the weekend, your contribution becomes part of the story.

If you’re excited to co-create regen·era from the inside out, we’d love to have you on the team. We can offer a limited number of volunteer and work exchange opportunities before, during and after the gathering in exchange for part or all of your ticket. Don’t miss out on this because of finances!

For three days, the village of regen·era roots itself in Hopland, California among weeping willows and a swimmable pond at Gateway Mendocino.

Instead of celebrating a “traditional Independence Day,” ticket holders will enjoy a rare, in person experience weaving interdependence, regenerative culture and civic imagination. through immersive camping, shared regenerative meals and participatory village life.
