Design Science Studio A regenerative art and life-centered design cultural incubator for (r)Evolutionary creators. We are building a lighthouse in a storm.

The Design Science Studio is a decade-long anticipatory art and design-driven accelerator for (r)evolutionary creators. It focuses on inspiring and creating Planetary Solutions for a world that works for 100% of life. With a cluster of visionary mentors and using Buckminster Fuller’s Comprehensive Anticipatory Design Science principles, cohorts of 144 international creators build culture-shifting projects that promote solutions for a world where all beings thrive. The Design Science Studio is a key component of the Design Science Decade - an educational incubator for designing and creating projects that enable the global transformational decade, leading us to a regenerative future. It’s an effort to bring back the era-defining efforts of visionary art schools like the Bauhaus with the certainty that the future is always first an idea and that anticipatory design can and must create cultural change. We are in a time of radical systems change as Humanity has the potential to realign itself with Nature. The global pandemic is shedding light on over-industrialization, alienation from nature, and othering as some of the primary root causes of global inequality, illness, poverty and environmental degradation. At the same time the pandemic is uniting humanity as a global community that can quickly react with purpose to bring forth action, nurturing and generosity. The Design Science Studio will respond to this fragile and transformational moment by ARTiculating the possibility of a healthy world via a decade of non-violent, design-led, creativity-expressed revolution.

Full Solar Eclipse tomorrow 🐋 Visionaries gather from around the world under the moons shadow at the Iceland Eclipse festival. The Design Science Studio is honored to join this gathering at this important moment in history- when remembering our place in the cosmos helps us all to ground into what a miracle life on this planet is. For a few minutes day turns to night and we feel how connected we all are.

DSS ED & Co-founder, Roxi Shohadaee Roxanna Shohadaee alongside other DSS team will be gathered in the Snæfellsnes Peninsula for Iceland Eclipse (August 11-15, 2026). We are grateful to have been invited as partner guests of the festival, alongside their pre-festival incubator for artists and scientists ahead of the festival. This five-day gathering blends science, music, art, wellness, and exploration around one of nature’s most extraordinary events.

We will be supporting of our team and DSS Evolutionary Alumni Eva Frye Eva Frye of Climate Shifted who is leading a Campaign: Awe for Whales before Icelandic Whaling Bill Vote 🐋 Shifting Icelandic sentiment on whaling through awe — before the autumn bill — TOWARDS anti-whaling, stopping fin whale hunting. Catch us sharing this Humpback Whale Bioacoustic immersive sound piece as a part of the campaign to protect the whales 💙

Beyond witnessing totality, this event is an opportunity to slow down, meet remarkable people from around the world, and experience Iceland’s landscapes through talks, workshops, performances and adventures designed to spark curiosity and connection.

We hope to see you under the moons shadow (r)Evolutionaries 🤲🏽

The 🌱 Natura Neighborhood 🌱 is
a space for wellness and to explore the connection with yourself, others and Nature. It will hold projects that have a direct connection with our environment and the impact we create in the world.

The 🔬Agora + Bucky’s Lab 🔬 is
the incubator and maker’s space. A place for deep conversations about art, philosophy, anticipatory design science, things related to the world of ideas, synergetics, and new ways of building.

🌀The Village🌀is
a place to imagine the future of living in harmony with nature and each other. Ponder the gifts of the universe, and be grateful for the possibilities ahead.

The 🎨 Art District 🎨 is
a genuine and colorful neighborhood. In it, you can discover art in almost every street. This is a place for inspiration and co-creation. Here artists co-create and share their regenerative work.

Whichever neighborhood you’re drawn to, we thank you for letting us plant the seeds of this protopian world in your heart.

Together, we will help shift and propel the next hundred years of evolutionary progress at the intersection of design, art and science.

Instead of celebrating a “traditional Independence Day,” we will converge for a long-weekend of interdependence (gathering, eating, learning, visioning, playing and weaving together).

From Weeping Willows to Natural Buildings to a Swimmable Pond with pARTicipatory Village Life and Radical Play, we invite you to a confluence for creators of regenerative futures.

This is your chance to pARTicipate, experience and weave yourself IN PERSON into DSS’s fourth cohort’s projects, relationships and creative interventions that are helping co-create and propel the transition towards a future that works for ALL of LIFE!

Because the future is not something happening later. For one weekend, creators of regenerative futures gather to celebrate what has been built, launch what is emerging and practice the world we wish to inhabit.

This is a moment to reconnect with your imagination, your agency, your community and your role in shaping what comes next.

Instead of a traditional “Independence” celebration, imagine a long weekend spent swimming in a pond beneath weeping willows, sharing regenerative meals, gathering around campfires, encountering immersive art, engaging in meaningful conversations and participating in a temporary village dedicated to regenerative futures.

Equal parts summit, campout, celebration and living laboratory, regen·era Rising invites participants into a culture of curiosity, creativity, connection and collective imagination.

Expect immersive art, performances, special musical guests, Afrofuturist and solarpunk storytelling, thought leadership, salons, workshops, land rituals, creative interventions, regenerative prototypes, worldbuilding experiences, radical play and unexpected encounters—all woven into a living experiment in what regenerative culture can feel like when we create it together.

Join us at gatewaymendocino as we collectively answer the question: What does a world that works for ALL of Life look like?

For the past seven months, the artists, designers, cultural producers and worldbuilders of the Design Science Studio have been developing visionary projects for regenerative futures.

regen·era Rising marks the culmination of that journey, featuring project launches, immersive experiences, social sculptures, creative interventions, regenerative prototypes and opportunities to engage directly with the creators shaping what comes next.

Alongside this year’s graduating coheART, experiences and projects from across the broader Design Science Studio ecosystem will be woven throughout the village, drawing from more than 280 projects incubated through DSS over the course of the Design Science Decade.

📣 Call for Volunteers at the Interdependence Summit: Regnerists, ARTivists, (r)Evolutionaries, systems weavers and systems ecologists 📣

What are you doing July 3-5th? Want to join us for the Interdependence Summit? Volunteer with DSS and join the cloud city of regen·era!

It takes a village to build a village.

Every year, regen·era Rising comes to life through an incredible team of volunteers, stewards and work exchange participants who help weave the village into being. Whether you’re supporting installations, welcoming guests, tending shared spaces, helping in the kitchen, assisting with production or caring for the flow of the weekend, your contribution becomes part of the story.

If you’re excited to co-create regen·era from the inside out, we’d love to have you on the team. We can offer a limited number of volunteer and work exchange opportunities before, during and after the gathering in exchange for part or all of your ticket. Don’t miss out on this because of finances!

Help create the 4 Villages of regenera: Arts District, Natura, The Village, Agora + Buckys Lab - Tend to Special Zones including Destimulation Cove, Upcycling + Makerspace, Quest Zone + Kitschy Collective Living Room or volunteer with food, waste management and all the other shared infrastructure that makes a world.
