It truly feels like a dream come true.
When I was in second grade, my yearbook said that my dream was to grow up and be an artist. A few years later, I started making jewelry with my grandma and putting up a poster board at my dad’s work to sell it. 😆
I started making jewelry again about five years ago and eventually began selling it. Once again, there was absolutely no business plan involved.
There were, however, some truly terrible clay earrings, questionable farmers market displays, and a lot of confidence.
If someone had told me back then that one day I’d be making jewelry full-time, seeing it in stores across the Midwest, having my own studio, and even being on Twin Cities Live, I never would’ve believed them.
The last eight months have been the wildest season of my life. Mitch and I have been working around the clock making jewelry, packing orders, traveling to markets, answering emails and phone calls, and figuring out all the other jobs that somehow come with running a small business.
Until about a week and a half ago, I was also still working my day job, which I don’t think many people realized. Looking back, I’m honestly not sure how we kept up.
If you’ve been waiting a little longer for an email or message back, thank you for your patience. I’m so grateful for every order, every store, every market, and every person who has supported our business. It’s grown faster than I ever imagined, and we’re doing our best to grow with it.
This week we’re taking a few days at the cabin with family to rest, recharge, and enjoy some time together before jumping back into it all.
Thank you for being here through it all - and for supporting me even when my clay earrings looked like deer turds. 🤍😂
Second-grade Samy dreamed about becoming an artist.
She just forgot to dream about sales tax, QuickBooks, inventory, packing hundreds of orders… and learning how to be an accountant.
(Still working on that last one.)
