Moss Rock Festival is an annual outdoor, fall weekend exploring Nature, Art + Design, Smart Living, Craft Beer, and more. Join us for MRF's 19th year November 2 & 3 at the Hoover Metropolitan Complex in Hoover, Alabama. Artistry, imagination, innovation, and fun await thousands of visitors as saturated colors begin to blanket the area. Discover juried artists, makers, and crafters inspired by nature and design alongside more exhibitors in the Smart Living Market and Sweetery. There are curated exhibitions, plein air artists painting live, and lots of nature connections to explore including wildlife meet and greets, pet adoptions, the School Planet Project Sculpture Installations, plus tree giveaways to enter and pollinator packets to take home as part of the Take Root | Take Flight Legacy Project. Creative talent soars at the WonderKid Studios and the Crescent Stage live music and dance performances while the food trucks, lounges, and the 13th Beer Garden tasting event will have you savoring the tastes and moments at the Festival. “My newest design is inspired by the Cholla Cactus of the Sonoran Desert. My glasswork entails designing & cutting/nipping/crushing glass on a prepared kiln shelf much like a painters canvas & fusing the glass pieces together at temps around 1500 degrees. After the glass is cooled, it’s cold worked w/ grinders, nippers & other tools to further create the look of the original design. More glass is added & the fusing process begins again. I use silver to create fuming which in turn creates new glass colors! The final step is gently slumping into or over a prepared glass mold.”

“I became fascinated with natural stone while renovating the landscaping around my home in Opelika, Alabama. We live in a forested area, and found huge deposits of metamorphic rocks throughout the property.

I use natural stone, ceramic tiles, glass tiles, and acrylic paint to create heavily textured abstract mosaic works. Some pieces are set in tinted mortar and framed, while others are coated in resin.”
