During our maintenance check on Monday, August 24, we identified an underground water leak that will cause the EXPLORE Splash Pad to be closed until further notice. Crews are working hard to make the necessary repairs to be able to return to normal operation for our guests. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding.

Painting is complete in the Machine and Free Weight Rooms, and both areas will reopen Saturday morning, August 22 for normal use.

🚨 Weight Room Closure

The machine weight room and free weight room will close Wednesday, August 19 at 1:00 PM to allow painting crews to begin work in those areas.

We are tentatively planning to reopen both weight rooms Saturday morning, August 22 and will provide an update if that timeline changes.

We appreciate your patience as we continue making improvements to the Hoover Recreation Center!

🎨 Facility Improvements Underway!

Painting crews will be working throughout the Hoover Recreation Center this week as we give several areas of the facility a fresh look!

🏋️ As part of the project, the weight rooms will be closed for several days while painting is completed in those areas. We’ll share the exact closure dates as soon as the schedule is confirmed.

We appreciate your patience while we work to improve the Rec Center!

Looking for a fun way to spend a Saturday morning outdoors?

Join us at Veterans Park on Saturday, August 29, from 9 a.m. to noon for a Go Fish, Alabama! Fishing Field Day presented by Outdoor Alabama and Hoover, Alabama - Parks & Recreation.

This free event is a great opportunity to learn the basics of fishing with help from experienced mentors. Participants will get hands-on instruction in casting, fishing safety, equipment and tackle, fishing regulations and more. Equipment and tackle will be provided.
