Waikīkī Steel Guitar Week and Festival

Waikīkī Steel Guitar Week and Festival The Waikiki Steel Guitar Festival is held annually in Waikiki and is free and open to the public.

The Waikiki Steel Guitar Week and Festival is presented by the Royal Hawaiian Center and HIMELE - the Hawaii Institute for Music Enrichment and Learning Experiences, in its ongoing efforts to highlight and preserve the island culture and bring together and showcase legendary steel guitarists and up-coming students in celebration of the Hawaiian Steel Guitar. This annual event is held at a Waikiki venue and is free and open to the public. Previously, the festival was held at Waikiki Beach Walk's Plaza Stage. In 2016, the festival moved to the Royal Hawaiian Center's Royal Grove stage. The festival highlights and preserves the island culture by bringing together and showcasing legendary steel guitarists and up-coming steel guitar students in celebration of the Hawaiian Steel Guitar. In 2017 the event was expanded to a week-long celebration of the Hawaiian Steel Guitar. This page is administered and maintained by Alan Akaka, Don Touchi, and Addison Ching.
