“Life Is Better With A Paintbrush” acrylic, 11x14
I have to be honest, when the original of this piece was sold at Wy’s Gallery, I was very surprised. I only created it because I was just having fun and was not expecting to sell it. But it did. Fast. To a couple of tourists. I hope they are taking care and enjoying it😊🙏

I sold one of my earlier original paintings. I miss it. 😔🥹

What I wrote on May 27,2019:

Yesterday, I picked up this canvas that my son, Rockwell, prepped for me a few months ago. I didn’t know why he chose the triangle on the corners of the canvas. It’s a symbol that shares all significance of the number 3. In ancient times, the triangle was considered synonymous with light. It never cease to amaze me that when I am almost halfway thru what I am painting, I become suddenly aware of that which is being created. I don’t really sketch before painting (which is not a very good habit😱). I don’t think I am technically good at this, but I just feel. I just flow. Here, in this piece, at first I thought that the four corners with triangles looked out of place with my image. Then it just now occurred to me- the equilateral triangle is a harmonious form, used to indicate the Higher Powers, providing a framework, for example, for the All Seeing Eye of God. As a symbol of strength, the triangle reinforces the corners of the square, both physically and metaphysically. Balanced on its point in this way the triangle also represents the yoni, further underpinning the Goddess aspect.
I am not certain what I would name this piece. For now while I am working on it, I am calling it “FREEDOM FROM BANDAGES”. 🌹

Hello Our Art Lover Friends!

I am thrilled to introduce LAcosta Creations, our new online store conceived alongside my sister May Esquerra, who takes care of product design and production. We are greatly assisted by my friend and colleague, Adriel Bencosme, who specializes in technology, including many aspects of social media marketing.  Together, we are dedicated in providing you with exciting, unique and affordable usable art while keeping the integrity of my work as a fine artist and maintaining our mission to assist important programs such as the fight against domestic abuse, human trafficking and the support for cancer survivors and patients.

My heart is broken but I know he is smiling in heaven. As both cancer survivors, my younger brother and I spoke of helping others. He had colon cancer and went into remission after surgery and chemotherapy. He was happy, healthy and surrounded with wonderful family and friends while carried a ileostomy bag (a small pouch attached to the stoma, which is the small opening in the abdomen that routes stool from the small intestines. Colostomy is from large intestines) This lasted forfor two years. It has always been his goal to have the reversal procedure to remove the ileostomy once he got clearance from his doctors. So 14 days ago, January 10, he was ready and underwent an intensive 6 hour surgery. After 5 days and ready to be discharged from hospital. We were cheering, but the next day he had complications that had to require another surgery. All through those 14 days, our family from all over the US and Philippines, stayed with him via audio and video chats. Unfortunately, his heart gave out after the second 6 hour procedure. I thank everyone who prayed for him. There’s always a great reason why what we want is not what is given to us. I was upset with God and the universe for a few hours after my brother’s last breath. But I am ok now. I know that he is in a better place than all of us here on earth. His spirit will always be with me. ❤️Soar high with the Angels my dear brother. Because you are now one of them. ❤️🌷FREDERICK ACOSTA September 15, 1962-January 23,2024

I am spending some time in one of the most beautiful country sides in Hawaii- Kamuela, Big Island, where all living creatures seem to go about their daily lives happily without a care in the world. I am so grateful to be here and my creative juices are flowing that even the chickens are becoming my inspiration for next painting. 😁

“Amor Fati”, 2015. Graphite. One of my very first drawings. Inspired by the book The Hero With a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell.

“This death to the logic and the emotional commitments of our chance moment in the world of space and time, this recognition of, and victory in the very kiss of own annihilation, this Amor Fati, ‘love of fate’ that is inevitably death, constitutes the experience of the tragic art: therein the joy of it, the redeeming ecstasy.”

Just got out of yoga class, all sweaty and yeah completely devoid of makeup but I don’t really give a hoot, I am happy here. 😊With me is Phoenix, widow and mother of three, survivor of the Lahaina wildfire. Her house and business burned down to the ground. So here’s the story-I donated (and currently still donating) some giclee prints of my art as part of Sun Yoga Hawaii fundraising campaign for the victims. Last week, as I was laying my yoga mat, I asked the woman next to me if it was ok to be next to her. She smiled and said yes. Then before the class started, our yoga teacher made some announcements which included introducing the woman next to me as Phoenix being temporarily housed on Oahu and me as the artist donating to her cause. we looked at each other for the first time, Here in front of me, is an actual recipient of my donated art pieces and I got teary eyed. I don’t have much to give but my heart is full to be able to help in small ways. Please join me in donating directly to her and her children. Thank you and God Bless. Please DM me and I will connect you directly to her.

100% of the proceeds will be donated to Ukrainian aid through the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America and for Maui aid through local NGOs including Hawaiʻi Community Foundation.

This piece will be displayed and be available for sale at the important cultural and fundraising event to commemorate the 32nd anniversary of Ukraine's Independence Day 2023 on Saturday, August 26 at Magic Island, Ala Moana Park.
