Our 2024 Nā Leo Hou Guest Clinician is Dr. Erica Glenn!
Dr. Erica Glenn is a globally-engaged conductor and composer. In 2021, Dr. Glenn became a national finalist for the American Prize in Conducting. In 2025, she will conduct the premiere of her original Worldwide Requiem for choir/orchestra at Carnegie Hall. Dr. Glenn holds a doctorate in Conducting (Arizona State), a master’s in Music Composition (Longy Conservatory), and a master’s in Education (Harvard). Prior to her full-time appointment as Director of Choral Activities at Brigham Young University - Hawaii, she taught at Dean College, the DC Kennedy Center, Soul Arts Academy in Manhattan, Arizona State University (where she received the Teaching Excellence Award), and the American International School of Utah (where she worked in senior management and founded six award-winning choirs). Dr. Glenn was a 2023 American Councils scholar in Estonia, a 2022 Fulbright Scholar to Poland, and she has won several national grants for musicological research throughout Eastern Europe (Ukraine, Russia, Georgia, Bulgaria). She is a frequent guest speaker and conductor at conferences and festivals, and she has published with Santa Barbara Music, Tactus Magazine, LazyBee Scripts, Pelican Music, and USA Today.
