We have been closely monitoring the weather, and we have some good news: the latest forecasts indicate that the severe rain will be tapering off this evening. As a result, the Honolulu Chamber Music Series is pleased to confirm that tonight’s performance by Apollo5 will proceed as scheduled.

While the rain is subsiding, please be aware that winds are expected to remain strong throughout the evening. We encourage all of our attendees to prioritize safety and take extra care while traveling to and from the Cathedral of St. Andrew.

Renaissance polyphony, Baroque masterpieces, contemporary choral works and inventive arrangements of popular songs. Apollo5 performs a wide, diverse range of concerts. The British a ca****la vocal quintet is known for its distinctive blend and commitment to pushing the boundaries of traditional music.

Evening Concert host Craig DeSilva spoke to Gus Perkins, Apollo5's bass, in preparation for their concert in Honolulu this weekend. The concert will feature both old and new — from music performed during the time of William Shakespeare to French romantic pieces to American jazz.

ICYMI - "Evening Concert" host Craig DeSilva spoke to the Parker Quartet about their passion for performing, collaborating with contemporary composers, and mentoring young musicians in their role as Artists-in-Residence at Harvard University.

The Grammy Award-winning quartet is doing a three-island, four-concert tour in Hawaiʻi this week that includes a performance of Schubert’s iconic “Death and the Maiden” string quartet.

Meet the Artists: PARKER QUARTET

Founded in 2002, the Parker Quartet has spent the last two decades cementing its reputation as one of the most exciting and adventurous ensembles in the world. Based in Boston and currently serving as Professors of the Practice and Artists-in-Residence at Harvard University, they bring a rare blend of intellectual depth and raw emotional power to every performance.

Grammy Award Winners: Their recording of Ligeti’s complete string quartets earned the 2011 Grammy for Best Chamber Music Performance.

International Acclaim: Winners of the Concert Artists Guild Competition and the prestigious Grand Prix and Mozart Prize at the Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition.

World-Stage Presence: From Carnegie Hall and Wigmore Hall to the Konzerthaus Berlin, they have graced the world’s most illustrious venues.
