We could not be more excited about this show. When we featured Charlie Hunter at Hallowbaloo 2016 and on Maui immediately before, Charlie played as a duo - Charlie on his 8-string guitar and Scott Amendola on drums. During these shows, Scott handed us his “Amendola Vs Blades” “Greatest Hits” live album. We fell in love with that record on first listen and have wanted to present Amendola Vs Blades ever since.

The time is now - majestic Hammond B3 organ and groovealicious beats incoming.

On Friday, March 13, the prophecy of Captain Trips becomes reality as the Maui Pranksters make their Waikīkī debut and keep the train rollin’ down the golden road to salvation.

It’s an opportunity to gather with the tribe, connect directly to the source and propel the positivity into the future.

With guitar-wielding, band leader Troll Garcia at the helm, the Maui Pranksters’ performances and spirit serve as a powerful catalyst, creating a joyous, judgement-free environment that breaks through today’s “me first” zeitgeist and declares “all are welcome” and “love and community are paramount.”

It’s a continuation of the culture fostered by Ken Kesey’s Merry Pranksters, the Warlocks, Grateful Dead and Deadheads, and a celebration of the wondrous power of aloha by a Maui band that feels it and lives it every day.

Musically, the Pranksters bring a unique flavor of fun-loving chaos to the stage, delving into both exploratory jams and sly musings that prove music hits harder when you don’t take yourself too seriously. But fear not; the band does not trade authenticity for levity. Troll hopped on “the bus” at age 17 and stayed there for over a decade. He possesses innate knowledge of the music and its meaning.

There will never be another Jerry Garcia. And I miss him as much as ever...

At one point after Jerry's passing, I was alone visiting a beach in Hawaii. Two huge Samoan guys just got back from spearfishing and they emerged from the water like creatures from the dark lagoon. They were as massive as sumo wrestlers and they were carrying spearguns with them, for fishing purposes. But, you know, a weapon's a weapon. And to prove it, they had dead fish hanging off their belts. I kept my cool when they started walking right toward me, but I'd be bluffing if I said I wasn't a bit nervous. When they approached, all they said was, "Sorry to hear about da kine." They were speaking in Hawaiian Pidgin - local slang - but were talking about Jerry.

He would've loved that, like it was some sort of prank that made up for the time the dive instructor in Kona asked him for his autograph, 20 feet below the surface. It made me smile. Jerry was "da kine."

It showed just how far and wide his reach was, and how deeply he was embedded in the American consciousness.
