We would also like to introduce you to the “Fake Piano Trio” of Emmanuel Hobro, Erna Hobro, and Nicole Yuzon!

Fake Piano Trio is composed of three Filipino-American folk: Emmanuel Hobro (UHM music ed senior) on trombone, Erna Hobro (Mililani Middle SPED Teacher) on piano, and Nicole Yuzon (UHM Alum) on violin. Typically, piano trios are composed of violin, cello, and piano, but with the brassy inclusion of a trombone, this ensemble’s name is based on how they bamboozle everyone via instrumentation.

The Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas, also known as the Estaciones Porteñas or The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, are a set of four tango compositions written by Ástor Piazzolla, which were originally conceived and treated as different compositions rather than one suite, although Piazzolla performed them together from time to time. The pieces were scored for his quintet of violin (viola), piano, electric guitar, double bass and bandoneón. By giving the adjective porteño, referring to those born in Buenos Aires, the Argentine capital city, Piazzolla gives an impression of the four seasons in Buenos Aires. The order of performance Piazzolla gave to his "Estaciones Porteñas" is: Otoño (Autumn), Invierno (Winter), Primavera (Spring), Verano (Summer). It was different from Vivaldi's order. Today, the “second movement” Invierno Porteño (Winter) will be played.

Introduction and Tarantella, is a Romantic virtuosic showpiece by Spanish composer Pablo de Sarasate. The piece begins with a slow and winding folk tune, that almost trips over itself as it tumbles into the Tarantella. The word Tarantella is derived from a spirited Italian dance meant “to cure the bite of a Tarantula,” however, the meaning has transformed into a “piece of high level, offering a technical challenge to the performer.”
