2025 Great Wall of Honesdale Artist Spotlight:
SANDI LUDESCHER is an artist from Sandia Park, New Mexico.
Her piece on GWH is a selection of “Todos Somos Uno (We Are All One)”, which is an oil on canvas.
Full piece measures 66" x 148".

About this painting, Ludescher states:
"This painting, made up of four panels (technically called a “polyptych”), is part of a long series based on Dia de los Mu***os, “Day of the Dead.” These four paintings are designed to work together and hang as one complete work, or can be separated and displayed singularly. The complete original work measures 5.5 feet high and 12.5 feet wide. It was six months in its creation.

The paintings in this series are not typical representations of this traditionally Hispanic holiday. My work is about the people behind the makeup and costuming, who celebrate and express what the holiday means to them. I am interested in the life they breathe into the remembrance of their dead and the ways in which they choose to mitigate their own grief and loss. The spectators become the spectacles; the viewers become the viewed. This celebration is also a time when makeup and costuming render the participants anonymous, blurring their identity and allowing them to celebrate amongst their fellow community members as equals. The stories shed light on our own stories and the emotions we share as part of our human experience.

There are crows painted in several places that were not part of the original idea or intention. Based on mythology and Indigenous beliefs, they are said to be carriers of messages. And, they carried a message to this polyptych. To honor their contribution, their images became part of the composition.

“Todos Somos Unos” is a symbol of the paths we all walk together. According to the crows, regardless of the clothes we wear, the work we do, or the color of our skin, we are all the same inside and should celebrate life together."

2025 Great Wall of Honesdale Artist Spotlight:
DENISE MILLON is an artist from Waymart, PA.
Her digital photograph on GWH is entitled "Snowy Link".

Millon states, "One of my artistic passions is photography. I tend to take photos of unusual things (creepy trees being one of them).
When tasked with this theme, the ideal photo hit me when I was driving over the railroad tracks on Brown Street on my way to the Honesdale Agway. And there they were, all painted up brightly, the railroad cars: a literal connection to Honesdale.
In particular, I like the many links, or connections, between the individual cars. I especially appreciate the huck link, which is the first connection made when attaching cars together. And what better time, in the winter when mother nature’s contrasting snow was upon them."

2025 Great Wall of Honesdale Artist Spotlight:
PAUL PLUMADORE is an artist who lives in Milanville, PA, on the Delaware River.
His 15" x 15" analog paper montage is entitled, "50/50 #127".

Plumadore states:
"I recycle old printed matter to create new, sometimes fantastical and often startling works. I cut with scalpels and use acid-free glues to create images that are defaced and glorified at the same time. Edward M. Gomez, in the March 2024 edition of "brutjournal", referred to my work as “elegant, sometimes deliciously transgressive compositions.”
When I came across these classic Currier & Ives illustrations of George Washington and Abe Lincoln, they immediately spoke to me as perfect subjects for my 50/50 series. As far as any social or political statement the resulting manipulation may have, I leave that to the interpretation of the viewer."

Plumadore has been making paper montage art since 1975, and was named "Upcoming Illustrator" by Art Direction Magazine in 1976. His collages have graced book jackets, record covers, and editorial stories for Dell Books, Avon Books, RCA Records, Psychology Today, and The New York Times, among others.

He began his eclectic career when he discovered dance at age 7. By his early 20s, he was on the faculty of the Dance Department at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, after receiving his BFA there and becoming a founding member of The NYU Dance Ensemble. He went on to perform with The Paul Taylor Dance Company, to head the Dance Department at Sweet Briar College in Virginia, and to present his own choreography under the aegis of Paul Plumadore & Co.

More recently in 2015, Plumadore began showing his art in various gallery venues and was a Solo Show Award recipient at the 2015 Northeastern Biennial. That 2016 solo show took place at the AFA Gallery, Scranton, PA. He has since been honored numerous times by having works hung in the State Museum of PA during Art of the State competitions, and is featured in the hard cover book "Making the Cut: The World's Best Collage Artists". In 2021, his solo show, Paper Trail, broke records at The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance in Narrowsburg, NY.

2025 Great Wall of Honesdale Artist Spotlight:
NANCY WELLS is an artist from Milanville, PA.
Her image on GWH is a selection of the painting "Knitted Together by Many Lifetimes".
Size: 7.5" x 15"

Regarding this painting, Wells states:
"Feminine energy is a transformational and healing energy, as seen throughout the history of our planet. This miracle of rebirth and continuance has prevailed in spite of war and discord. Without this nurturing and life affirming desire, we would not survive."

"I have created significant bodies of work as a figurative, abstract expressionist and digital painter; non-traditional doll maker; painter; watercolorist; printmaker; fiber artist; sculptor and photographer. 2025 Great Wall of Honesdale Artist Spotlight:
TRIX RENDER is an artist from Damascus, PA.
Her piece "Wishing" is an oil painting on board.
It measures 8" x 14".

About Trix Render:
"Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, I now live in Pennsylvania with my husband where a beautiful forest surrounds my studio.
I enjoy strolling in beautiful landscapes, [and] finding and collecting natural things that inspire me. These items often find their way into my imagination and work."

Regarding becoming a painter:
"It was during a visit to Helen Martins' The Owl House in Nieu-Bethesda (Eastern Cape, South Africa) in the late 90's that the idea of painting came to me. I have no idea how or why this happened, but so started a love affair.
I had never held a brush, but dove in and started painting. I am primarily self-taught and work in oils. The beauty, pace, and violence of nature inspire me. The Dutch and American Masters, particularly Frank Duveneck, influence me greatly.
I do both traditional and psychological portraits. My preferred substrate is copper sheet, but I paint on wood panels, too."

2025 Great Wall of Honesdale Artist Spotlight:
MARJORIE MORROW is an abstract painter who resides in New York’s Upper Delaware River Valley (Kenoza Lake).
This acrylic and mixed media work is entitled "Long Division", and measures 12" x 16".

Regarding this piece, Morrow states:
"I started to create 'Long Division' as a pun on the political divisiveness in our country, using a stereotype—the simple, mathematical division sign. As I worked, the painting morphed into a landscape and, ironically, established just the opposite: an image of a visual and symbolic connection. Sunrise or sunset, we are one. We are a reflection of each other. We remain connected despite our divisiveness."

Morrow works in mixed media including acrylic, charcoal, pastel, oil stick, colored pencil, and sometimes collage on canvas.
She relocated her studio to Kenoza Lake permanently in 2018, after fifty years in Manhattan, NY. A graduate of Miami University, Oxford, OH, with a BFA in painting and printmaking, she participated (under visiting artist Richard Anuszkiewicz) in the first Blossom-Kent art program in Cleveland, OH. She has exhibited her paintings and prints since 1968.

Morrow says, “My paintings are about energy and freedom, gestural interpretations of what I see and feel in my environment. While abstract, they are inspired by many sources—music; literature; and the contemporary cultural, environmental, and political climates. Of course, my work is also informed by the abundant natural landscape surrounding me as a reference for movement, line, and color.
Whatever the source or inspiration, the element of chance is important to my process to foster spontaneity and surprise. And color, with its many emotional nuances, is key!”

2025 Great Wall of Honesdale Artist Spotlight:
ANNA BROWN is the student artist this year, and she resides in Honesdale, Pennsylvania.
Her digital photograph is entitled "Lions".

Brown is a '25-'26 senior at Scranton Preparatory School. She began taking photos with a phone many years ago, but when her grandfather gave her his old camera, she took off from there. She loves landscape and travel photography, as well as creating portraits for friends and family.

“Lions” was taken on the Masai Mara in southern Kenya, Africa. It shows three female lions basking in the sun, watching their cubs.
