Yesterday was one of those unforgettable days that reminds us why we love capturing America from above. We had the incredible opportunity to photograph Union Pacific’s legendary Big Boy No. 4014 as it thundered across the historic Tunkhannock Viaduct in Nicholson, PA.

Seeing the world’s largest operating steam locomotive rolling beneath Old Glory was a powerful reminder of the innovation, determination, and spirit that built this country. From the stars and stripes to the iron rails that connected America, yesterday was a celebration of our nation’s history in motion.

We’re proud to share this patriotic view from above and honored to preserve moments like these through the lens of our drone.

🚂 The Big Boy has arrived in Northeast Pennsylvania! 🚂

What an incredible sight to witness Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014 crossing the iconic Nicholson Viaduct today. Captured from above by Rutledge Skyworks, this historic locomotive put on a show as it thundered across one of Pennsylvania’s most recognizable railroad landmarks.

Fun Fact: Big Boy 4014 is the largest operating steam locomotive in the world, stretching over 132 feet long and weighing more than 1.2 million pounds. Originally built in 1941, it was restored to operation in 2019.

Viaduct Fact: The Tunkhannock Viaduct was completed in 1915 and remains one of the largest concrete railroad bridges ever built, standing 240 feet above the valley floor and stretching nearly a half-mile in length.

Here we go! Tomorrow is the beginning of set up for this Saturday! We will keep you posted on that tomorrow! But right now, it is time for the most awaited, approximate music lineup schedule! Please note, these times are approximate because a lot goes into switching between bands. We do our very best to stay on schedule but rest assured that no matter what time you are planning on arriving this Saturday, great music will be playing!
