⚡️ Lightning Detection System = Safety First at Homewood Parks & Rec ⚡️
Please help us spread the word about the lightning detection systems at our facilities. This system is not a punishment — it’s a critical safety tool designed to protect our players, families, and staff during inclement weather.
How the System Works:
• 🚨 The system activates when lightning is detected within 8 miles
• 🚨 When the siren sounds and strobe light flashes, all individuals must seek shelter in a vehicle immediately
• 🚨 Facilities are officially closed when the alarm is active
• 🚫 Dugouts, batting cages, awnings, trees, and standing in parking lots are NOT safe
• ✅ The only safe place is inside a vehicle
What to Do While You Wait ⏱️
Waiting safely in your vehicle can still be productive or fun:
• 🎧 Listen to music or a podcast
• 📱 Catch up on social media
• 🍔 Grab a snack
• 📚 Finish homework
• 💬 Spend time talking with family
• 🎮 Play a game
Important Reminder:
The countdown clock will reset if additional lightning is detected, so be sure to refresh for the latest updates.
