So this week our friend James Hahn passed, James was an artist and contributed to some blamed designs. I don’t like typing the word “was” he is someone I think of often. We loved to talk about bass guitars, James played on our cover of White Throne and drew the cover for that release so we asked him to play bass on that song because none of us were good enough to do it. He would question why we played such cheap instruments and never understood my disdain for expensive instruments. I would explain “if you can’t throw it at your drummer what’s the point?” I’m posting the White Throne video in comments and if you look in corner where his video is, he’s playing his Ernie Ball bass and his other Ernie Ball is behind him, he wanted them both in the video, I remember he asked me which one he should play and I told him whichever one works as if one was broken. He was excited to wear his Empty Tomb shirt. James and I would message about our mutual love for Christian punk music Empty Tomb, The Crucified, NIV, Crux, Scaterd Few. We also both loved comics, he would do comic artwork. He was also my heart surgery buddy, after my surgery he would check on me because he had already had multiple procedures, I had a mitral valve repair and he had previously had his replaced.
In November I was able to participate in TomCon and James came for the afternoon, I was thankful for the little time we spent together, he was going through a lot at the time and he told me that he had hope, he was very strong in his faith and his relationship with Jesus was rad. He was always open and asking if I would pray for him and definitely always asking people how he could pray for them. I was reflecting this morning on how faithful I believe God is, “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ" James I can’t wait to see you again and for you to show me your dream bass
