Hi All! As many of you know Carmen Field's Memorial is Saturday, October 1st at 11am. I will be reading a short letter I wrote after Carmen's passing and singing our special goodbye song "May the long time sun.." If any of you and your families are there please join me in singing. It would mean the world to hear all your voices out there. Thanks!

We recently lost a member of our Raspberry Lane family. It's taken me a bit to get up the gumption to write about Carmen...

We recently lost a member of our Raspberry Lane family. It's taken me a bit to get up the gumption to write about Carmen. She mean't more to me than she'll ever know. The Field family joined Raspberry Lane the first year the program was under my care, Eryn was two years old. I was young, energetic, lost, scared, curious, enthusiastic, and scared (did I mention that already?). Carmen opened my eyes to the importance..no the necessity of having children engaged in their outside world. Not only is it important in fostering a little one's imagination, curiosity and capacity to learn, it also closely connects our children to their community. Both Carmen and Conrad were always present at Raspberry Lane showing their constant support of Eryn and, subsequently me. I changed how I taught and what I valued because of Carmen. There is so much more to say-I will end like we ended every school day, but this one is just for you Carmen:
May the Long Time Sun Shine Upon You
All Love Surround You
And the Pure Light Within You
Guide Your Way Home...
Thank You Carmen

As Solstice approaches, I am flooded with warm, magical memories of Raspberry Lane. Even though darkness fell all over the earth, it always remained light in our little school. Thank you to all the families and friends that made Solstice the brightest time of the year!

Well Raspberry Lane alum, it has been a long while since this page has been used. I have been dreaming of all my little cherubs and want Webby to witness all their magic. We will be at Hornaday Park this Sat. 1 pm, if any families would like to join us. Please consider this the first of many impromptu reunions!

Manners Dinner was a success! The Daisies were not even phased by an older gentleman who told them to be noisier and offered to buy them ice cream..nor did they flinch at the sight of a commercial being shot. Miss Manners would have been proud!
We are about to begin our last week of Raspberry Lane. What a time of joy... with a sprinkle of sadness. Our Blooming Ceremony is Thursday at 11am. Please stop by to congratulate our graduates on a job well done : )

Tomorrow begins the Week of the Young Child!

Other events for the WOYC can be found in our local papers, thru Sprout, or at www.pop411.org under Families First.
*Monday Night is the presentation to City Council about the importance of Early Childhood Education . From 5-6 you can join Familes First for pizza in KBBI's staff room and then go straight to City Council from 6-6:30pm. See you there!
By showing our support for the youngest members of our community we ensure that both our town's future and the future of our children will be very bright.

I've been waiting to post this, but reality has now set in. After five wondrous, magical, and dare I say, exciting years, Raspberry Lane will be closing its doors on May 31st. Deciding to close the school was not an easy decision. Raspberry Lane has been my life for some time now, and I will be ever grateful for that. In essence, though, I get to exchange one miracle for another. I will be having a child at the end of August. (Yes, all you parents out there can finally sit back and watch me pull my hair out!) As I take this opportunity to be with my little one through his early years, the lessons of Raspberry Lane will not be far from my heart. Thank you all for helping make the Lane a magical place where both children and adults thrive!.And, who knows what the future will bring!
