Print for Change: Silkscreening & Social Justice ✊

Print for Change is a week-long silkscreen printing workshop that introduces youth to the history, techniques, and power of printmaking through the lens of social justice movements. Participants will explore how artists, activists, and community organizations have used silkscreen printing as a tool for education, resistance, empowerment, and collective action. Students will share their own expressions and lean how to bring their own designs to life through silk screening.

🍽️ EAT πŸͺ© PARTY πŸ‘Ύ PLAY πŸ—ΊοΈ EXPLORE
Thursday nights, the campus opens up and the whole building comes alive. The Soundstage goes live. The culinary cohort puts dinner on the table. Galleries fill with the week's work. The game room pulls up chairs. Families come through. Youth come to hang. Come with your family or drop your teen off for the evening with friends β€” no camp connection required. This is one of the only places in the Valley where the night belongs to youth, and everyone's welcome in it.

The most important work at any event is the part nobody sees. For one week in July, you'll do it β€” building the Springfield Jazz & Roots Festival from the ground up: site planning, stage, sound, lighting, hospitality β€” then working it backstage when the festival comes alive. You'll learn what it takes to make something big happen for other people, led by the team that does it. Mornings the week of July 6; festival July 10–11. A few spots. Come build it with us.

There's nothing like the first time a band locks in and the room moves. We give you the venue β€” the De la Luz Soundstage, a full backline, real volume β€” on Monday and Wednesday evenings. A different working musician sits in each week, but the direction is yours; it's your space to find what you want to say with it. Drop in any week. Evenings, separate from the day program. Bring an instrument, or just bring yourself. Come play with us.

aThis one asks you to pay closer attention to the world β€” and help others see it. For a week in August, you'll be in the field across New England with a camera, shooting the film that screens behind a live orchestra at its September premiere. The subject is the planet, and the stakes are serious; your work helps shape what an audience feels. Your footage makes the final film, your name goes in the credits, and your family will be in the seats. Only a few spots. Come tell this story with us.

AI is reshaping the world young people are growing into, and the honest response isn't fear or hype β€” it's understanding. We take a clear look at how these tools actually work, where they fail, and how to stay the author of your own ideas while using them. You'll think hard, build a project you can explain and defend β€” something that uses AI as a tool but carries your judgment, your research, your point of view. Skeptics welcome; no coding background needed. Come figure it out with us.

Vinyl Lab begins where music begins β€” with a record, a needle, and the decision someone made to press that exact sound into vinyl. In our high-fidelity listening room, students hear music the way it was meant to be heard, then build forward through history, technique, artistry, and live performance. Each week we welcome a resident DJ who shares insights into style, culture, and method that will expand your horizons. Each Thursday night, you are invited to be part of The Drop, our weekly all-ages party and game night. Take your own set for a spin and feel the room, or sit back and listen to our guest artists. No experience needed; bring your ears and your curiosity. Come find your sound with us.

Making something with your hands changes what you think is possible. Each week offers something different β€” screen printing, glass, textiles, sculpture β€” worked out across our maker shops. And what you make, you can sell: we'll host a summer Makers Market where you can offer your work to the world. You'll leave with things you made, and the quiet confidence of someone who knows they can. Come build something with us.

Something happens when you cook for other people: your efforts enrich the lives of those around you. In our Culinary track, you'll work beside a professional chef in our commercial kitchen, learning new techniques and testing them out as we prepare lunch for the community every day. As the week goes on, we'll take an idea to completion by designing a dish that is served to the public at The Drop, our Thursday night showcase. Students who can stay for the evening will help prep, plate, and serve their creations in a real pop-up restaurant. On Fridays, we take field trips to visit the farms, mills, and butchers your ingredients come from. You'll leave knowing your way around a kitchen, and knowing you can make something people are glad to sit down to. No experience needed. Come cook with us.
