It's that time again. Tomorrow, August 4th, is the First Friday of the month. The village celebrates with art, food and music from 5:30 to 8:30.

This month, Glyph is proud to welcome a new artist, Timothy Allan Shafto. Come see his unique platters and "colorflow" paintings made from curly koa, curly mango, resin and pearlescent pigments. They are totally unique, and are an engaging mix of colors, materials and patterns unlike anything I've ever seen before.

Just a quick note to remind everybody that tonight is First Friday After Dark in Holualoa, from 5:30 to 8:30. Galleries are open late, and there are food vendors and musicians throughout the village. Glyph will be hosting Nicole and Charlie's fish tacos out front.

We have a special exhibit in the gallery for the event. The traditional tied gourds of Gary Eoff, that demonstrate the wide range of shapes, purposes, and tying techniques of traditional ipu. See fifteen historically accurate pieces you are unlikely to see anywhere else, and lean a bit about traditional Hawaiian cordage.

Aloha! Glyph Art Gallery is celebrating our grand opening in conjunction with the First Friday art event in Holualoa. The event is from 5:30 to 8:30, Friday February 5th.

Glyph is a new gallery offering original art, fine art prints, ipu and Hawaiian cultural art objects, as well as ceramics, jewelry and fine woodworking. Original gallery owner Shelly Maudsley White and her colorful Hawaiian flora and fauna are featured, alongside the work of Alex Gupton, Andrea Pro, Charla Thompson, Chet Glenn, David Kawika Gallegos, David Reisland, Diane Tunell, Gary Eoff, Kate and Will Jacobson, Lisa Bunge, Lisa Haake, Mary Carol, and Rose Adare.
