At Axelrod Performing Arts Academy, students develop much more than dance and theater skills. They build confidence, discipline, creativity, coordination, and friendships in a welcoming and encouraging environment.

Fall classes are available for preschoolers, children, tweens, and teens from introductory ballet and tap to contemporary dance and musical theater training.

A hilarious, coming-of-age musical about discovering that “cool” is sometimes where we least expect it. 1️⃣3️⃣

Geek. Poser. Jock. Beauty Queen. Wannabe. These are the labels that can last a lifetime. With an unforgettable rock score from Tony Award-winning composer, Jason Robert Brown, (Parade, The Last Five Years, Bridges of Madison County) 13 is a musical about fitting in – and standing out! 🕍

Evan Goldman is plucked from his fast-paced, pr***en New York City life and plopped into a sleepy Indiana town following his parents’ divorce. Surrounded by an array of simpleminded middle school students, he needs to establish his place in the popularity pecking order. Can he situate himself on a comfortable link of the food chain... or will he dangle at the end with the outcasts?!? 🎒

Meet the director of Joseph at Axelrod PAC!

Nick Hrutkay is an award-winning director who loves helping young performers grow. He is the Director of Education and Assistant Artistic Director at Stagedoor Manor, where he has worked for 11 seasons. He has directed productions across the country, including at the Kennedy Center, Axelrod Performing Arts Center, and Bell Theater.

Nick helped develop the school production of Dear Evan Hansen with the show’s writers and has directed favorites like Into the Woods, Sweeney Todd, and Little Shop of Horrors. He brings professional theater experience and a passion for teaching to every rehearsal.

HUGE OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR APAA STUDENTS…PERFORM IN A PROFESSIONAL SHOW!!! ✨

APAA students ages 10–14 are invited to audition for Axelrod Performing Arts Center’s upcoming production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat!

To audition, record 30–60 seconds of a musical theater song that shows your voice and personality. Sing with an instrumental track or live accompaniment, without recorded vocals.

Email your video or a viewable link to [email protected] by THIS Friday, October 2nd! Include the student’s name and age, a parent or guardian’s name and phone number, and any rehearsal or performance conflicts. Please make sure your link can be opened without requesting access.

Commitment: Rehearsals run October 17–November 5. Students must attend every scheduled rehearsal. Two children’s casts will rotate performances. Previews are November 6 at 6:30 p.m. and November 7 at 1:30 p.m.; opening night is November 7 at 6:30 p.m. The full performance schedule will be shared separately.

• Oct. 17–18: Sat. 10 a.m.–12:30 p.m.; Sun. 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
• Oct. 21–25: Wed.–Fri. 5–8 p.m.; Sat. 10 a.m.–6 p.m.; Sun. 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
• Oct. 28–Nov. 1: Wed.–Fri. 5–8 p.m.; Sat. 10 a.m.–3 p.m.; Sun. 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
• Nov. 3–5: Tues.–Thurs. 5–8:30 p.m.

Callbacks: Callbacks will be by invitation only and take place at Axelrod Performing Arts Center, Deal NJ at 4:30pm on Monday, October 5th.
