A little brain exercise.
Flowers: compliments of

I moved recently, and I could only find one pencil and no erasers. I'm no artist, but art is good for the brain.

I'm working on those art skills I don't have.
This is a sketch of my sister's cat Piper. She was nice enough to tolerate me taking her picture, so that I had a reference.

I like stretching my brain once in a while by doing things I don't have any natural talent for. I've been enjoying sketching lately. I find it relaxing, and I enjoy the little *scritch*scritch* sound of the pencil on the page. What hobby have you been enjoying lately?

Snow in Mando'a. The Mandalorian language.

We had our first snowfall. I am stocked up on tea, coffee, and good books.

"Just sit down and write" is, of course, not advice we writers ever want to hear. We don't want to waste our time staring at a wall when there is a good chance we won't accomplish anything. No one wants to waste their time. However, a couple nights ago, I thought, "Just sit down and write. At least you can say you tried. " It was mostly scrolling through my notes app, looking for something interesting, and flipping through my rhyming dictionary because I forgot the better half of my vocabulary; but I did write. I finished a short poem I've been tossing around. I did the boring part of writing and I got a poem at the end of it.
Do yourself a favor. Just sit down and write.

Songs From The Roost. Page 22. Brought to you by my emo phase.
I was feeling extra emotional the day I wrote this. I was exchanging writing prompts with a friend of mine, and I don't remember exactly what prompt she sent me, but I do remember feeling better after I wrote it. It was very much a "I'm fine. I just need to be dramatic about it first" kind of moment.

"Where are the songs of spring? Ay, where are they?
Think not of them, thou hast thy music too"

I stole a brief moment to read when I should have been sleeping. Autumn is almost gone, so I am clinging to her last days.

November 16th.
A decade ago, I saw Andrew Peterson live for the first time. He paused often to tell stories and forget the lyrics to one of his songs. In the best way possible, it felt less like a concert and more like sitting in someone's living room, listening to a friend share their God-given talents.
Sitting in the cozy environment of Vintage Paris, coffee in hand, surrounded by family and listening to Skye Peterson sing, I was reminded of that concert a decade ago. We laughed, we prayed, we sang hymns together. I felt honored to see that legacy continue.
"These trees will spread their branches out
And bless someone"
