We’re so excited to finally report that Phase 1 of “WOVEN”, was installed over the weekend at the corner of Meridian St. & Highway 25.
This project, which was inspired by indigenous basket weaving, and evolved through community outreach to determine design, color & more, has been a true partnership between our artist team , , and so many others.
Phase 2 includes solar-powered lighting that will illuminate the piece at night, will be soon to follow. Future plans also include a public event to officially unveil the piece to the community, and surrounding landscaping that will include all native plants!
PLEASE NOTE: As part of the state-funded Highway Beautification Project, we acknowledge that this art piece in installed on Ohlone Amah- Mustun land, the original caretakers and residents of the Hollister area. We are humbly appreciative to have placed this artwork on these traditional Indigenous homelands. We hope to honor the original people’s of this area - and their connections to this land - through preservation of their story and amplification of their continued efforts for recognition amongst the communities whose histories and homelands we benefit from today. Please see the link on our bio for ways to support these efforts.
