We sure think it’s the best seat in the house. 😂

But seriously… this community this weekend. We see you. After the heartbreak of having one of our windows intentionally broken Thursday, we were definitely in our feels. And then y’all showed up.

You shared. You checked in. You offered help. You sent messages. You connected us with people we never would have crossed paths with otherwise.

Like… what even is this community? 🥹

We truly cannot put into words how much all of your support means to us. We’re building this place for our little town, and this weekend has been a pretty good reminder of why.

So yeah. We’re pretty sure we have the best seat in the house.

Holden… you’re pretty special.💙

This one really hurts my heart.

During the fair tonight, someone intentionally busted out one of the back windows at The Matchbook.

I know it’s a window. It can be replaced but now not restored. We’ll clean up the glass, make a phone call, add one more thing to the ever-growing construction list and keep moving.

But it still hurts.

We’ve spent the last year pouring everything we have into this old building. We’ve torn things apart, fixed things that probably should have been left for someone with more common sense, hauled out dumpsters full of literal decades of stuff, and put a ridiculous amount of time, money and love into trying to give this place another life.

And tonight, while our little town was gathered downtown for the fair, someone decided to damage it on purpose.

I just don’t understand it.

If you were at the fair tonight and happened to be around the back of The Matchbook, saw or heard anything, noticed someone acting suspiciously, or have a camera that may have caught something, please send us a message.

Either way tomorrow, we’ll be back at it. Because apparently this building has decided we weren’t busy enough. 🙃

Fair week has entered the chat. 🎡

We snapped this on our way out tonight, somewhere between food trucks rolling in, vendors getting set up, and the general organized chaos that comes with a small town getting ready for one of its biggest weekends of the year.

For a building that is currently surrounded by approximately 47 different construction projects, there’s something pretty damn fun about looking out the doors and seeing the fair coming to life instead. 😂

The Matchbook might be a little messy right now, but downtown Holden is about to be anything but boring.

Bring on the fair weekend. ❤️

Taking a brief pause from our previously scheduled programming of constant construction chaos 🚧

Don’t worry, we’re still over here making dust, moving things, questioning our life choices, & still somehow making progress. 😂

But today, we’re going to remind you just how pretty this space can really be when it’s her time to shine. ✨

Because somewhere underneath the sawdust, floor joists, paint samples and approximately 900 decisions… is THIS💖

A room ready to be filled with people you love.
Dressed up for something worth celebrating.
The kind of space that makes you stop for a second and think, okay… THIS is why we’re doing all of this.

We love showing you the messy middle because that’s where we are right now. But every once in a while, it’s nice to remember what all that chaos is working toward.

And honestly?

She cleans up pretty damn well. 😉

So tell us… are you more here for the construction chaos 🦺 or the pretty finished-event photos? Because we have PLENTY of both. 😂

Happy first day back, Holden Eagles! 🦅📚

Here’s to the start of the 2026–27 school year and all the moments that come with it. New teachers, new classes, new friends, new adventures… and eventually, somehow, graduation day. 🎓

From the first day of school to the last, these years are full of moments worth celebrating. So today, we’re celebrating the beginning. ❤️

Sunday Funday 💕✨

The LAST Sunday before summer break officially comes to an end and we send these kids back to school. 😳

So today feels like the perfect excuse for a little pink, a little sparkle and a whole lot of celebrating. 🌸🥂

Just a bunch of girls, pretty dresses, pink everything, and a reason to celebrate.

We’re not saying The Matchbook is always this put together…

…but when she is, she’s pretty damn cute. 💅🏼💕

You know what’s underrated? Having a floor. 😂

This section of the building had been completely closed off after water damage caused the existing floor to fail. So for a while, getting to the back of The Hall meant staying very much on the “do not fall through here” side of things.

Today?

You can actually walk through it.

All the way to the back of the building. All the way toward the future courtyard.

It may not look like much yet, but this is one of those projects where the ugly stages are actually some of the biggest milestones.

40 more joists!

One more section opened up!

And one less part of this building trying to kill us. 😂

Wedding Wednesday 🤍

I think one of the strangest things about weddings and all the celebrations leading up to them is how quickly it all goes by.

You spend weeks, sometimes months, thinking about the details. The tables. The flowers. The little touches. You picture everyone gathered together and then suddenly… it’s over.

And those are the moments I hope people remember.

Not whether everything was perfectly placed. Not whether every little thing went according to plan.

But the way the room felt. The people around the table. The laughing. The hugs. The tiny moments you almost missed because you were busy making sure everything was perfect.

Because it really does all go by faster than you think.

So slow down when you can. Look around. Take the picture. Be in it.

Those little moments are the whole point. 🤍.

A little throwback to a year ago, when “renovating The Matchbook” meant handing everyone a hammer and telling them to start taking plaster off the walls. 😂

And yes, that is me swinging a hammer. Because I am a construction worker too. 😂

Looking back now, I don’t think we fully understood what we were getting ourselves into.

A lot of dust. A LOT of plaster. A whole lot of swinging hammers.

And somehow, here we are. 🖤

Construction function… 🎶

If you aren’t a millennial and immediately started singing Conjunction Junction, what’s your function? then honestly… I can’t help you. 😂

But that is literally all I can hear in my head lately as I walk around this building.

There are so many massive projects happening at once, and somehow it’s the little things happening in between that are making it all start to click.

It’s honestly a little crazy to stand back and realize how much is changing.

Big things. Little things. A million moving pieces.
It really feels like they’re all starting to come together.

Full steam ahead from here. 🚂
