Have you marked your calendar yet? We've said it before...and we'll continue saying it as long as the newly restored historic Royal Theater serves the community and region...VOLUNTEERS are the lifeblood of the Theater! Whether serving as an Usher, Concession Worker, or Box Office, volunteers make the magic of the Theater happen!

The Royyal will be hosting two Orientation Receptions on September 15th and 17th beginning at 6:30 at the Theater for all of you who have an interest in helping us out.

Lots of "Perks" available for those who choose to donate a few hours to help out with our live shows, movies, school productions, and other local productions.

For those of you who have attended a concert or performance at the historic Royal Theater, what is it that you enjoy the most?

I've had the privilege of operating historic theatres across the country for most of my professional career...and for me, it's the unique nature of the art form. The fact that what happens that one single evening will never be duplicated. The audience interacting with the performers...and the performers responding to the audience. You never know what's going to happen. Colliin Raye, comfortable onstage, appreciative of the fans who have come to see him, commenting he felt like he was in his living room. The audience going crazy over the recent performance by TRIBUTE - A Celebration of the Allman Brothers. And the band responding with a heightened effort to give their fans their very best.

The legendary KATHY MATTEA will be performing live on the Royal Theater stage Saturday, September 19th. This multi-grammy award winner and member of the Grand Ole Opry's performance will be a unique, never to be repeated event. Who can say what will happen?

She started in Nashville in the early 1980's as a tour guide at the Grand Ole Opry and was invited to become a member last year. Kathy Mattea has an extraordinary career. Her style is defined by traditional country, bluegrass, folk, and Celtic music influences.

AN EVENING WITH KATHY MATTEA will be presented live onstage at the historic Royal Theater Saturday, September 19th.

Tickets are available at 1937royaltheater.org.

Mattea has charted more than 30 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, including four that reached No. 1: "Goin' Gone", "Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses", "Come from the Heart", and "Burnin' Old Memories", plus 12 more that charted within the top ten. Among her albums, she has received five gold certifications and one platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Mattea is also a two-time Grammy Award winner.

The Royal Theater's Loge isn't historically accurate, but it sure is a great place to enjoy a show! We've got great volunteers who serve our Loge patrons at their seats so you won't have to stand in concession lines and the view can't be beat!

As you can imagine, these seats are extremely popular and sell quickly. Stop by the Theater and check it out sometime.
