September is National Su***de Prevention Month. (The first photo is not mine)
Bringing awareness to mental health is always so important to me. We all have our struggles and battles. Every single person, every day, has silent battles that no one else can see but them.
Why are tattoos so important with su***de prevention?
For myself, random people in the public would ask about my self harm scars. I had pseudo-family members tell me I was just doing it for attention.
And then I went to a long-time friend of the family. Everyone called him Dead Ed. He was a tattoo artist.
He helped me to cover them.
He never commented on them.
He only would tell me if the scars were healed enough or not to be tattooed over.
He never asked unnecessary questions.
He made me feel safe and comfortable with my decisions.
He changed my life.
When we covered the scars, I felt the weights come off my shoulder. It was no longer a daily occurrence for people to ask me about my scars. I finally felt comfortable in my skin again. (I attached a picture of some of my sleeve)
And because of him, I learned a lot.
I love helping people to feel safe and comfortable in their own skin.
While some people don't cover their scars, others are ready to, and I am here to help.
