Aaron uses symbolism and allegorical minimalist compositions to illustrate complex ideas and establish a new paradigm for societal identity. His work seeks to open a dialogue to communicate the essential experiences of the individual including loss and connection and the consequences of impunity. The use of symbolism, rooted in theories of humanism and universality, contrasts with delicate, subtle shifts in tone and fields of color. His latest work deconstructs real and cultural borders through abstraction and a redefined language.

Aaron Boucher is a multidisciplinary conceptual and figurative artist whose works include mixed media on paper, canvas, and sculpture. He earned a Master of Architecture from Texas Tech University in 2004 and worked with noted contemporary Architecture firms in New York City while developing his minimalist design ethos. Aaron has won numerous design awards and competitions and his works have displayed in galleries in New York City and across the country to critical acclaim.

Leandro Comrie is a Brooklyn-born artist of Venezuelan and Panamanian descent who explores the power of memory, identity and culture and how they are shaped or influenced by politics and society depending of our geography.

Leandro Comrie (b. 1973) recently completed his residency with the Eileen S. Kaminsky Family Foundation (ESKFF) at Mana Contemporary in Jersey City, NJ and has exhibited extensively for the past eighteen years in New York City, Miami, Los Angeles, and across seas in Toulouse, France.

I have always been interested in people and their stories. As a kid, I would sit in my aunt’s and godmother’s kitchen, respectively, and listen to their stories. The stories were about them and other people, but far from being gossip oriented; they were focused on life experiences and lessons on how to approach life from a kinder perspective.

Those conversations left a seed in me, and I watched it grow through the years and realized how easy it was for me to connect to people emotionally. I had learned to welcome people and their stories. At some point, I considered studying psychology, convinced it was the best way to put this trait to good use, but I turned to painting instead.

Through painting, I am able to connect not only with other people’s stories but also with my own. No painting reveals a specific story, but instead, they are the sum of many stories. My subject matter tends to be broad, and inclusive for this reason. I don’t wish to paint solely about one story or focus on one sentiment. The human experience is a combination of emotions that rise and subside. Therefore, my work can be a mix of heartbreak, love, death, friendship, lust, kindness, sexuality, spirituality among other things, things that as human beings we can relate to.

Aaron Boucher is a multidisciplinary conceptual and figurative artist whose works include mixed media on paper and canvas and sculpture. His use of symbolism and allegorical minimalist compositions illustrate complex ideas that establishes a new paradigm for societal identity. His latest series opens a dialogue with the identity of self and the consequences of impunity.

Aaron Boucher’s minimalist compositions communicate the essential experiences of the individual such as loss and connection, identity and self-discovery with unexpected resonance. His visual universe is a vast space where the unseen is present in his compositions similar to the way silence becomes noticeable in music. With every detail there are hundreds of other echoes and invisible constructions made in the mind. His art is enigmatic and exploratory of a dense subconscious state that ascends to a delicate visual richness expressed through subtle differences in tone, monochromatic backgrounds and beautifully esoteric written forms. Most importantly, Aaron’s art is often inspired by and deeply rooted in theories of humanism and universality. For instance, the work you see at this exhibition expresses solidarity with those who experience rejection and racial discrimination. Aaron believes in the common thread in all people.

Aaron Boucher (b. 1979) earned a Master of Architecture from Texas Tech University in 2004 and has worked with noted contemporary Architecture firms in New York City and as the Director of Design for a custom furniture and fabrication studio that challenged the impossible with refined craft and a minimalist design ethos. Aaron has won numerous design awards and competitions and his works have displayed in galleries in New York City and across the country to critical acclaim.
