Long Post Warning! ⚠️
This is not our typical post. Our owner is wanting to address a few people who we hosted this past weekend.
From Levi:
“This past weekend we had the honor of hosting Nanny T’s Daycare celebration for their 15 year anniversary. This daycare is owned by the Montgomery family. This husband-and-wife duo is known by many names.
Teresa, a.k.a. “Nanny T,” has touched so many families. She told me the exact number of children that have been through their home (I can’t remember at this time, but I believe it was between 90-100 children).
Wayne, a.k.a. Mr. Wayne, Big Wayne, or Pops—depending on who you ask, has always been a Steady Eddie. It wouldn’t be a summer day without driving down one of the streets of Hobart, seeing him mowing a yard, and him giving you one of his standard waves from the mower.
These wonderful people have been a part of my life since high school. Though I knew the family before that, I really got to know them during my years working at Big-A-Burger. They always came in with a smile, always kind, patient and considerate. They were truly my favorite customers.
When I was graduate high school, they made sure to find me and get me a card. They sure didn’t have to. There was even one point when I was working the grill at Big, I joked around with Teresa that I would love some of her enchiladas. The next day, she brought me a whole casserole dish full of homemade enchiladas.
As time has clicked on, this year, one of my girls graduated high school and they went out of their way to make sure she, too, got a graduation card.
As most people typically know, when we set up an event for Bearcat Alley & The Courtyard, we leave the venue to allow individuals to spend time with their guests. As we were setting up, they, of course, invited me to stay, offered me a plate and offered for me to take food to my family as well.
It isn’t always easy to find genuine, salt-of-the-earth people in this world, but every now and then, God blesses us with a few of them.
I struggle to put into words the kindness that they have always shown me—for years now.
Mr. Wayne and Teresa, I would just like to say thank you—thank you for everything.
Congratulations on 15 years! You two, truly, are a blessing to all who know you.”
