The Painting Wasn’t Finished… Neither Was the Story.
Today I walked into 24 hours of praise and worship the same way I always approach prophetic painting:
in complete surrender.
No agenda. No predetermined image. No deciding what the painting should become.
I listen.
I pray.
And then I respond.
For me, this process means surrendering myself enough to receive guidance from my Lord and Savior, and allowing my hands to follow.
And when I truly listen, things begin to take form.
Sometimes they surprise me.
Today surprised me.
I did not expect to paint the face of Christ, especially not this way, emerging somewhere between light and darkness, one brushstroke at a time.
After three hours, the painting was close to completion… but it wasn’t finished.
Then came another surprise.
I was invited to return tomorrow and finish it during worship at our regular Sunday service.
At my own church. 🤍
I have painted live at retreats, art events, and during mission trips to Guatemala. Yet somewhere inside me has always lived a quiet longing:
What if someday I could do this at home? What if I could paint during worship in my own church?
Tomorrow, I get to.
And now I wonder if perhaps this painting simply wasn’t supposed to be finished today.
Tomorrow I will stand before it again, surrender what remains, and ask:
What would You have me do?
I don’t know what those final 45 minutes will bring.
And that is what makes this so extraordinary.
Thank you to my church for trusting me with the privilege of worshiping and serving in the language I know best:
with paint on my hands. 🎨🤍
Tomorrow, the second chapter begins.
“Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.”
1 Samuel 3:9
To Him be all the glory!
