Over the past several years, participation in the Queen Mermaid Court has gradually declined. In an effort to encourage involvement, the committee has explored a variety of approaches, including personal invitations, open applications, pageant-style formats, expanded eligibility to girls across West Virginia within designated age groups, and outreach to surrounding counties.
As we look toward the future of this cherished tradition, we are seeking feedback from teen girls and parents/guardians to better understand what may be contributing to the decline in participation and what changes or opportunities might help revitalize the Queen Mermaid Coronation.
Your feedback will help guide future discussions and decisions as we work to preserve and strengthen this longstanding tradition for generations to come. All responses will remain confidential and will be reviewed only by committee members.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and help shape the future of the Queen Mermaid Coronation and Court.
