Cole & Sons’ “Miami” wallpaper transforms the room entirely with a maximalist botanical backdrop. The portrait’s calm presence feels even more intentional and powerful.

Wallpaper Wednesday: Picasso’s Lithograph Meets Serene Water Garden

This week, we’re pairing Pablo Picasso’s lithograph from “Carnet de la Californie”—a vibrant composition filled with warm colors, figures, and artistic energy—with Gracie Studio’s calming Koi Pond wallpaper.

The contrast of Picasso’s bustling scene celebrates the intensity of creative life, while the wallpaper offers a peaceful escape with floating lily pads and graceful koi. Together, they create a space that honors both artistic passion and quiet reflection.

Josef Albers (1888-1976), I-S f (125/125)

Part of Josef Albers’s iconic square-in-square studies, where layered colors seem to glow and shift. This screenprint captures the crisp, saturated color that made Albers a pioneer of 20th-century color theory.

Screenprint in colors, 1970, 20.5 x 20.62 in, framed at 29.82 x 29.82 in. Signed, dated, and titled in pencil. Impression 125 from the edition of 125.

James Jacques Joseph Tissot (1836-1902), La Portique de la Galerie Nationale a Londres (The Portico of the National Gallery, London)

A masterful etching by one of the 19th century’s most sophisticated chroniclers of modern life, capturing the portico of London’s National Gallery with the same crisp attention to detail found in his celebrated paintings. Tissot’s architectural etchings, related to his 1874 Royal Academy exhibit London Visitors, place him among the distinguished predecessors of the school of etchers inspired by Whistler’s iconic Thames and Venice series.

Etching and drypoint on imitation Japanese paper, 14.875 x 8.25 in, framed at 29 x 22 x 1.75 in. Only state published, from the edition of 100. Excellent crisp impression.

For more info about this work or to view other pieces by Tissot, contact Hope through the link in the bio.

Wallpaper Wednesday: Surrealist Abstraction Meets Graphic Pattern

This week, we’re pairing Joan Miró’s “Untitled” from The Flight Portfolio—a playful meditation on line, color, and form—with two bold tiger-inspired wallpapers that channel that same expressive design.

Joan Miró “Untitled” from The Flight Portfolio.

Rebel Walls Year of the Tiger wallpaper brings intricate detail in classic black and white creating unexpected harmony with Mirò’s abstract gestures.

LEFT: Rebel Walls Year of the Tiger

RIGHT: Rebel Walls Ink Tiger (rust)

Rebel Walls Ink Tiger (Rust) wallpaper takes a warmer approach with its sophisticated palette and patterned tigers against a neutral ground. Miró’s abstract work feels grounded and intentional without competing.
