Milk River Days began as a bicentennial celebration in 1976. The celebration now includes a rodeo and street dance on the 3rd of July and a parade, picnic, firework show, and much more on the 4th of July. Every five years there is also the Hinsdale All School Reunion, held on the 2nd of July. In addition to the Milk River Days Committee, there are many other groups and events this page tries to co

ver and support. The events include the Milk River Cowboys Association rodeo, the All School Reunion, Belly Bump basketball tournament, Bjornberg picnic, Hinsdale Trap Club's Cole Albus/Calton Melby Memorial Clay Pigeon Shoot, Fall Festival, the Funeral Committee, and other events. I made a quick stop at the St. Mary Diversion Dam this past week and grabbed a few overhead shots, but this one is definitely my favorite — out with the old and in with the new!

And look at that old diversion dam, still doing its job and sending water across to the Milk River Project for what has been a great irrigation year.

Just a reminder for everyone above Nelson Reservoir: all pump contracts and water deliveries need to be wrapped up this week. After September 5, any continued pumping will be taking water belonging to the Fort Belknap Indian Community and will be in violation of your Bureau of Reclamation pump contracts.

Please make sure you are finished up by the deadline. Thanks for helping us close out a great irrigation season!
