Throwback Thursday

When I first purchased the property, the old farmhouse still stood as part of its history. Just weeks before closing, a truck drove through the side of the home, leaving it uninhabitable. Rather than let it sit unused, we later donated the structure to the town for training purposes.

Wedding Wednesday

Wedding shoes can make or break your day (literally), so comfort matters just as much as style. Here are some practical tips to help you choose well:

Start with your venue. If you’re getting married on grass, sand, or cobblestone, stilettos can sink or wobble. Block heels, wedges, or even embellished flats are much safer and still look beautiful in photos.

Break them in early. Don’t save your shoes for the wedding day. Wear them around the house for a few hours at a time before the big day so they mold to your feet and soften any stiff spots.

Think about heel height realistically. A slightly lower heel than you “think you want” often ends up being the smartest choice. You’ll be standing, walking, and dancing for hours.

Comfort inserts are your friend. Gel cushions, arch supports, and blister pads can turn a pretty but painful shoe into something you can actually enjoy wearing.

Have a backup pair. Many brides change into something more comfortable for the reception—cute flats, sandals, or even stylish sneakers are totally normal now and can be just as photo-worthy.

Match the vibe, not just the dress. Your shoes don’t have to be perfectly identical to your dress, but they should match the overall style—romantic, modern, boho, classic, etc.

Don’t forget the floor test. Try walking on similar flooring to your venue (wood, grass, tile). It can reveal surprises about grip and stability.

Trick Tuesday

Here are some practical (and fun) beekeeping tricks that make a big difference 🐝🍯

🌼 Plant for your bees, not just your yard
Having a steady bloom from early spring to fall keeps your hive strong. Think clover, wildflowers, and herbs like lavender and thyme—your bees will stay closer to home and produce better honey.

⸝

🍯 Check weight, not just frames
Instead of opening the hive all the time, gently lift the back of it. A heavy hive = good honey stores. This saves you from over-inspecting and disturbing the colony.

⸝

👃 Learn the “smell” of a healthy hive
A good hive often smells slightly sweet, warm, and waxy. Sour or funky odors can be an early sign something’s off.

We have some very exciting news here at Buck Ridge 🤍

Coming in early July, we’ll be welcoming a beautiful white Highland calf to our fold! 🐮

Ella has already picked out the perfect name—Willow 🌿
She is beyond excited and has her halter and brushes ready for her new girl.

We can’t wait for Willow to join the Buck Ridge family and the herd. Stay tuned for updates once she arrives… we have a feeling she’s going to steal some hearts 💛

We are so excited and happy to introduce the newest member of the fold! 🤍

Berta gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Thursday, and we are already completely in love with him. As calves can change color throughout their first year, there’s always a chance his coloring may shift — but right now he’s showing a beautiful silver tone that I have been anxiously hoping and waiting for.

We can’t wait to watch this sweet boy grow and see what he becomes over the next year. 🐮✨

Did you know? 🐔

We offer pasture-raised whole and parted chickens, raised right here on our farm with care from start to finish.

Our chickens are:
• Raised on pasture
• No hormones
• No antibiotics

We process just 3–4 times a year to ensure quality and freshness.

Our first batch of chickens will be ready on June 29—perfect time to stock up!

Message us to reserve yours or stop by the farm store 🐓💛

Throwback Thursday 🤍

It’s amazing what a little change can do…
This is the barn before the drapes—simple, rustic, and full of potential.

Adding the drapes completely transformed the space, making it feel so much more elegant, soft, and cozy. It still has that farm charm, just with a little extra warmth and magic ✨

Proof that small details can make a big difference

Wedding Wednesday

Do a “Private Last Bite” together 🍰

After all the chaos of the day, have your DJ or coordinator sneak you away for 5–10 minutes near the end of the reception. Just the two of you—no guests, no cameras—sharing a dessert or drink.

Why it’s so good:

* It’s often the only quiet moment you’ll get all day
* You actually get to eat and enjoy something together
* It gives you a chance to soak in “we just got married” before the night ends

It doesn’t have to be cake—could be:

* A slice of your favorite pie
* Late-night snacks
* Even just a drink and a deep breath together

Little moments like that end up meaning more than the big, busy ones 💛

Fun Fact Tuesday!

Chickens lay eggs based on daylight—not the calendar. Hens of domestic chicken need about 14–16 hours of light to keep laying regularly.

That’s why:

* Egg production slows way down in winter (short days)
* And picks right back up in spring and summer when daylight increases

Their bodies are triggered by light hitting a gland near the eye, which tells them when it’s the “right season” to lay.

Fun bonus fact:
It actually takes about 24–26 hours for a hen to form one egg, which is why they don’t lay at the exact same time every day—they get a little later each day until they skip a day and reset.

Perfect little farm-post line:
“More sunshine = more eggs ☀️🥚 Mother Nature runs the schedule!”
