FREE! Hindman Settlement School

Join us at Hindman Settlement for an evening of Appalachian culture at our monthly square dance this Friday, November 14 beginning at 7pm! If you can walk at a moderate tempo, you will be able to dance these easy, low-impact dances. No prior experience is needed as all dances are taught step by step by our caller.

Musicians are invited to bring their instrument and sit in with the live bluegrass band, which for this month will be a special treat as our Pick & Bow String Band takes the stage!

Our square dances are free, family friendly, and sponsored in partnership with the Berea College and the Kentucky Arts Council.

💡 Evening with Engineering – Coming to Eastern Kentucky!

Presented by the University of Kentucky College of Engineering in partnership with The Lighthouse Beacon Foundation , this special event is coming to:

Students will have the chance to meet UK Engineering representatives, current students, and alumni. Participants can ask questions about programs, co-ops, internships, housing, and more — and explore how a degree in engineering can open doors to the future.

Join us Saturday, November 15 for The Feast, an evening of Appalachian food, friends, and fellowship at the historic Hindman Settlement School.

Chefs Kristin Smith, Alex Green, and Babz Goldman Nartowicz—with a host of friends and farmers—will serve up a locally sourced meal inspired by the fall harvest, from cushaw-filled momo dumplings to sticky Seminole pumpkins and Good Thymes Farm chicken & dumplings.
