Kenneth has a system. And it works… until it doesn’t. 🍹📚

Work at the used bookstore by day. Head to Wally’s Café for happy hour. Share 2-for-1 mai tais with his best friend, Bert.
The catch? Bert is completely imaginary—and the bookstore just shut down.

At 38, Kenneth is suddenly thrust into the terrifying world of teller windows at Primary Trust Bank, new faces, and what happens when life forces you outside your comfort zone.

Hilarious, profoundly touching, and full of warmth, Eboni Booth’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Primary Trust.

IT’S TIMEEEEEEEE!

Tickets are officially ON SALE for Lean Ensemble Theater’s Season 11 opener, Primary Trust, by Eboni Booth! ❤️

Kenneth is a creature of comforting habits. For twenty years, his days have looked exactly the same: working at a quiet suburban used bookstore and spending his evenings sipping Mai Tais at the local tiki bar with his best friend, Bert. But when the bookstore unexpectedly closes, Kenneth’s perfectly ordered world is shaken up, forcing him to step out of his comfort zone and open his heart to the world around him. This quietly devastating, funny, and deeply tender play is an exquisite look at resilience and the small, brave leaps it takes to start over.

✨ Season 11 starts here.

Who is Eboni Booth?

Juilliard alum Eboni Booth brings a unique edge to contemporary theater. Before she was a 2024 Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, Booth spent years on stage as a professional actor at elite Off-Broadway institutions like Playwrights Horizons and Soho Rep. That background gives her a massive edge as a writer—she inherently understands how actors breathe, pace themselves, and hold vulnerability on stage.

Following its stellar Off-Broadway premiere starring William Jackson Harper (The Good Place), Eboni’s masterpiece Primary Trust has become a massive national sensation and one of the most-produced plays in the country, celebrated for its incredibly high emotional impact.

The massive plot twist? You’ll have to get tickets to find out! 🎟️👇
