We participated in the Children’s Day event held at Sanga Hall this past Saturday the 2nd. Many people enjoyed the tea. We would like to express our gratitude to the high school student who kindly assisted us and participating members. Mahalo😊

We held Rikyuki. We offered our gratitude through Hanayose and Kencha and enjoyed Kagetsu. We had Kusamochi with Yomogi harvested from a member’s garden. 昨日利休忌を行いました。花よせと献茶で感謝を捧げ花月で楽しみました。 またメンバーの庭のよもぎを使った手作り草餅で季節を感じました。

Yesterday, we welcomed the members of the Tea Ceremony Club from Tokiwagi Gakuen in Sendai.　The conversation flowed lively, and it turned out to be a truly delightful time.　昨日は仙台からハワイ大学の見学にいらしている常磐木学園茶道部の皆様をお迎えいたしました。お話にも花が咲き大変楽しいひとときとなりました。

Despite the fatigue from yesterday, Sunday was dedicated to lessons with Professor Murata. The lessons included GyakuGatte and Tsutsu Cyawan, appropriate for this season, followed by Shikaden in the afternoon. Thank you, Professor Murata, for two consecutive days of lessons.

昨日の疲れも何のその、日曜日は村田先生のお稽古が行われました。この季節にふさわしい逆勝手と筒茶碗の点前を学び、午後は四ヶ伝のお稽古を行いました。村田先生、二日間にわたるご指導、誠にありがとうございました。

On Saturday, March 8th, we set up a tea ceremony booth at the 32nd Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival, and many people enjoyed tea there. Murata Sensei and Secretary-General Takemi also came from Honolulu to support us. In addition, high school students once again played a vital role this year. Thank you all very much!
８日の土曜日はWaimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festivalにてお茶席を設け、たくさんの皆様にお茶をお召し上がりいただきました。当日はホノルルから村田先生とたけみ幹事長も応援に来てくださいました。加えて今年も高校生の皆様に大活躍していただきました。ありがとうございました。

A Happy New Year! Hatsudate (tea ceremony) organized by the Urasenke Tankokai Hiro Association was held yesterday, with guests in attendance.　It was a truly auspicious tea ceremony, featuring Hand Made Hanabira mochi（The photos show the freshly made mochi, which was dusted with this powder using a brush and served on the day.), homemade Osechi Ryori (traditional Japanese New Year's dishes), and a tea bowl from the Daisosho. Let's work hard on our classes again this year！
少し遅くなりましたが新年明けましておめでとうございます。本年もよろしくお願い申しあげます。昨日、裏千家淡交会ヒロ協会による初点がお客様をお迎えして開催されました。手作り花びら餅(写真は出来立てでこちらの粉を刷毛で叩いたものが当日振る舞われました。)や手作りの御節料理、そして大宗匠からのお茶碗など、誠におめでたい茶会となりました。さあ今年もお稽古頑張りましょう！

Here are some photos from today's Bunka no Hi demonstration. Many people enjoyed the tea. As always, the high school students played the role of Hanto and did a great job. This marks the successful conclusion of this year's demonstration. We would like to express Our sincere gratitude to everyone who cooperated.

The Japanese Community Association of Hawaii announces the Bunka no Hi (Culture Day) to be held on Saturday November 15, 2025 from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the Sangha Hall. The Urasenke Tankokai Hilo Association will be giving a demonstration of the Japanese tea ceremony. Please come and have a bowel of tea.
