YES, ON LABOR DAY!

Please join us for this relaxed drop in session for artists and dabblers -- no instruction, but lots and lots of supplies for you to use as you choose. We have everything from a range of substrates and papers (including specialty and handmade papers) and adhesives, to paints and paint markers, washi tapes, rubber stamps and inks, a die cutter with dies and embossing folders, and different ephemera. You can also bring and use supplies of your own.

For adults and mature teens, school age children welcome with a supervising adult.

Pay as you please, $15 suggested, but we know everyone’s time and supply usage is different. No registration required. Pay at time of session, we have a jar out for cash or check, we also will have a paylink available if you prefer to pay online.

Here are all the artists who are particpating in our new show, Musical Notes, that opens tomorrow, Wednesday, August 26. Many of them will be present during the opening reception during the Last Friday Art Walk on August 28, from 6-9 pm -- come meet the artists, enjoy music on the front porch (Sugaree String Society!), create your own artwork at our creation station, enjoy a needle felting demonstration by Connie Swindoll -- and just generally have fun and be inspired!

We are pleased to introduce Connie Swindoll a fiber artist who has recently moved to the area. Connie has work displayed in the gallery, and will be teaching needle felting workshops at the Gallery Annex/F-Stop 2 on W Corbin Street in Hillsborough for us.

Connie will be teaching a workshop for beginning needle felters and experienced felters who wish to refresh or extend their skills on Saturday, September 12 from noon to 4 pm.

You also have an opportunity to meet Connie during the August Last Friday Art Walk on August 28. Connie will be doing a needle felting demo from 6 pm until dusk.

Coming at the (almost) end of September -- a show you will definitely want to see. A Touch of Grey explores movement created by pattern.

Instead of his usually brightly colored liquid dyed fabric art, local artist Arthur Haskell works in shades of whites, black, and greys to emphasize the intricate patterns in his work, and the movement they convey.

Shades of Grey opens September 23, and runs through October 18. The opening reception will be during the September Last Friday Art Walk on September 25 from 6 to 9 pm.

While you are enjoying our current show, we are busy working on the shows to come -- up next in the Gold Gallery Room is Musical Notes, opening Wednesday August 26, with an opening reception during the August 28 Last Friday Art Walk.

Musical Notes will bring together work from nineteen local artists, presenting a musical potpourri, from flowing rhythms, jazz cats, and sidewalk jams, to clanging cymbals and big brass blasts.
