Friends, one of the great things about hosting a radio show is we occasionally get previews of highly anticipated albums before they officially release.
Last week Jess Klein joined us to talk about her upcoming new album "Dreaming Aloud" and to play live versions of some of those new songs. Before we go live with our guest each week, we play music from a playlist that we curate based on a theme for the week. Our theme for that show was "Hopeful". We chose that theme because that's the first word that came to our minds when we thought of Jess's music.
As a bonus for the evening , we also got links to preview the new album that officially releases tomorrow, June 12th.
Y'all, "hopeful" is absolutely a good descriptor, but it really only scratches the surface of the depth of wonderfulness of this new album. There is a yearning throughout this album for community, for lifting each other up, for just being better. But it's not wistful, it's not a plaintive cry for something unreachable. It's a strong, steady, down to earth voice reaching deep and having fun... and without really even trying, giving us hope.
This album sounds great start to finish. It's got a bit of everything, but it all holds together as a single unit. "Old Rock n Roller" is a fun put the top down and take off on a road trip banger. "I Wanna Be Love" smoothes down the edges and gently speaks of meaningful aspiration. "Delay the Sunrise" ditches the guitar and drums and typical instrumentation for just a beautifully played piano, and a clear voice breaking our hearts.
You can find the album everywhere starting tomorrow. You can reserve here:
