Step further inside the HAC Gallery space to see her creations as part of our yearly group show, "Art Is For Everyone: Self Portrait"! It's a wonder to see how local artists of all skill levels view themselves in this community show 🎨

Dance along to The Magic of African Rhythm THIS FRIDAY! 🪘🎶

Join The Magic of African Rhythm LIVE on the Old Courthouse Lawn, 5:30-7:30 PM June 26th, as they help to connect us to our African heritage across the ocean!

🌍 The African concept of Ngoma (the “rhythmic thread” that links drumming, singing, dancing, and visual arts together) is expressed in all their performances. Prepare to be uplifted as the waves of drums resonate within your soul this Last Friday!

Bring a blanket and lounge as we gather, listen, and build community through storytelling and shared experience.

Happy Halfway to Solstice ✨🌙

Our Solstice Lantern Walk & Market is officially 6 months away! But don’t fret, that’s plenty of time to get your lantern ready for celebrating the longest night of the year 📆

Let’s talk about what you can do right now:

All HAC events & programs are collaborative, grassroots, community efforts. Solstice Lantern Walk & Market costs roughly $65,000 annually to organize for our community.

Want to support this program? Right now, HAC is running an End of Fiscal Year Fundraiser to set us up for success this upcoming fiscal year.

❗ We’re so close to our goal of $15k, and we need YOUR HELP to cross the finish line before June 30th ❗

Gifts of any size go a long way towards building events like Solstice and Last Fridays to be the best they can be. We’re incredibly thankful to all who have donated to get us to this point! Everything we do is because of generous folks like YOU! We feel the love, and hope to return it tenfold 💙

Learn all the ways you can give at www.hillsboroughartscouncil.org/donate!

Take a look at what’s gracing the brick walls of C3 Hillsborough 👀

Did you know HAC has a Satellite Gallery in a local office? In partnership with C3 Hillsborough, a co-working space for many local businesses and entrepreneurs, HAC is further connecting artists & audiences through a collaborative gallery.

Now on display through July 26, 2026: Eduardo Lapetina’s “Cascading Joy” 🎨

Breaking traditions and exploring emotions, connect with Eduardo’s work as you study the mysteries of the subconscious mind.

“My paintings are a way for me to enter the world, not an escape from it. A painting opens a door into a space in which a play may be staged, where plot points, conflict, climax, and resolution all come together. In the process of creation, a painting becomes a battlefield for my struggles about what is, what is not, what ought to be, what I like, what I love, what I hate, frustrations, disenchantment, embarrassments. My art exposes to the world my most private thoughts and feelings, forming a spatial connection between what lives within me and what is alive in everyone else.”

Beep Beep! Our End of Fiscal Year Fundraiser just passed $11k 🎉🎉🎉

We could not have come this far without the energy of our Hillsborough community and supporters like River Walk Ally, Vintage Dental Arts. Special thanks to them for renewing their business sponsorship and pushing us closer to our goal of $15k!

We have 18 more days to reach that finish line, and we need YOUR HELP to get there!

Your donation goes to paying for:
🎶 Bands and performers at Last Fridays
📝 Permits that allow us to host Maker Markets, supporting local artists
🧑‍🎨 Our small but mighty staff that keeps everything running smooth
+ And so much more! In fact, our total goal of $15k covers the costs of ONE Last Fridays event!

Help us keep events like Last Fridays & the Art Walk and Solstice Lantern Walk FREE and accessible to our community by giving today at www.hillsboroughartscouncil.org/donate!

Last week was Last Fridays, and we’re STILL buzzing with energy! 🐝

Our friends and the Diali Cissokho Trio brought good vibes + hula hoops Live on the Lawn, and their music was a beautiful soundtrack for the return of our Makers Markets on the other side of the Courthouse!

After strolling through Makers Market booths, there was so much more to see around town! Including (but certainly not limited to):
📷 Fantastic photography at
🖌️ A new mini Art Library outside , plus some not-so-mini artwork inside
🎶 Dance-worthy tunes by Steve Fishman & The Pied Vipers outside
🧵 Leaving your mark on the River Park Arch with .haggerty and
🧺 Basket weaving in the HAC Gallery & Gift Shop window with artist Ellie Hoffman

It was a wonderful evening — busy in the best of ways — and we couldn’t have done it without the support of volunteers, sponsors, and community members like YOU! Thank you for showing up and showing out 💙
