40 years ago, Rush released their much anticipated 9th album, Signals. This album would be a departure from the band’s classic sound and migrate towards more “modern” genres of new wave, reggae, ska, and synth-driven pop.

There has never been such a band as Badfinger, a band with all the talent, skill, and connections to become huge commercially, but with the bad luck and misfortune that would eventually lead them to oblvion and tragedy. But the music was great, and the band may have peaked 50 years ago with their 1971 album Straight Up.

Hotel California was a quasi-concept album by The Eagles, with the songs each loosely touching on the theme of paradise lost or squandered. This fifth album by the band was transitional in several ways and would go on to be their signature piece.

Face to Face was a fine collection of pop songs that branched out The Kinks' core sound with several musical subgenres. A loose concept album, commenced the expansion of the group's sound which persisted through the late 1960s.
