Highland VFW Post 5694 & Auxiliary extends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Wilbert Vincent “Vince” Rolves, who passed away Tuesday.

Vince was a proud World War II veteran and former Prisoner of War, and held the distinction of being the oldest living World War II POW in Southern Illinois.

While Vince was not a member of our Post, he was our fellow veteran and brother-in-arms. We honor his service, his sacrifice, and the legacy he leaves behind.

Another member of the Greatest Generation has answered the final roll call.

Rest in peace, Vince. Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

Vince was born on February 23rd, 1924 and passed away on August 25th, 2026 at the age of 102

VFW Auxiliary Members — We Could Use Your Help!

The VFW Auxiliary is looking for members to help work the concession stand during Thursday night Bingo! Whether you can fill in occasionally or commit to helping once a month, we’d love to have you.

Typical Thursday schedule:
• Arrive around 5:00 PM to help set up
• Concession stand opens at 5:30 PM
• Stand closes when Bingo begins at 7:30 PM
• Cleanup is usually finished around 8:15 PM

No experience required! We’ll show you what you need to know, and any help is appreciated!

There are jobs for everyone — from sit-down tasks to standing and serving, every helping hand makes a difference. We can find something that works for you and your comfort level.

Can’t make the entire time? We can work with your schedule! Even an hour or two can be a big help.

We’re looking for both fill-in volunteers and members willing to help once a month.
