It's not Improv but it is unusual performance opportunity.

Gary Shakespeare Co. is excited to announce auditions for our new Madrigal Choir! Auditions will be held on January 13th (6pm) and January 14th (2pm) at St. Barnabas of the Dunes at 601 Potawatomi Trail in Gary, Indiana.

Please prepare approximately 20 bars of music to sing a ca****la. You will also be sight reading with others.

Rehearsals are projected to be approximately twice or three times a month with the first performance in the Spring or Summer!

So what makes a Madrigal different from other choirs? A Madrigal is a genre of non-religious, unaccompanied vocal music that became extremely popular in Europe in the 16th century, and continued to be written in most of the first half of the 17th century especially in Italy and England.

Madrigal singing is a very intimate kind of performing, requiring subtle communication among the singers to establish tempo, dynamics, starting and stopping, and creating emotional sense in the music.

We hope that you’ll come and join us for auditions! All ages welcome.
