2026 Update!!
Well folks, I fought the county and the county won. The addition of a movie theater above my garage looked too much like a new bedroom, so the county requirements for a perc test of 10,000 square feet of yard, inspection of current septic drain field, and new 1000 gallon septic tank kicked in. After a year of delays, failed perc test, a whole pile of money spent, the movie theater build was cancelled.
Instead, the county (being sympathetic to my plight) is giving me a variance to build a second garage next to my current garage without the need for all the septic testing and improvements described above.
Exactly 13 months behind schedule, we will begin construction of a new garage, new front porch, and an expansion of my kitchen.
Due to approximately 4 months of construction, I'm cancelling the 2026 Halloween show.
However, I'm putting all of my energy and time into making sure the 2026 Christmas show starts on Thanksgiving weekend. No guarantees, but this is my goal.
