For more than 200 years, The Highgate Manor has been a place where stories unfold. Weddings, celebrations, gatherings, and moments that become part of history.

Today, we are honored to introduce our commemorative brick fundraiser, a project that will help preserve the Manor for generations to come while creating a lasting place for our community to leave its mark.

Funds raised will support the installation of a fire suppression system, helping keep the Manor safe, welcoming, and open for future celebrations and community events.

We are especially honored that the very first commemorative brick purchased was made in memory of Jason Barney, whose work preserving and sharing Vermont history touched so many. It feels fitting that the first brick in this project honors someone who dedicated so much of his life to preserving the stories of our region.

While exploring Europe over the past two weeks, I couldn’t help but smile when I came across these two “Al Capone” bars. 🍸 They immediately reminded me of the famous Capone’s Bar that was once part of the Highgate Manor Inn. Funny how a place thousands of miles away can bring your thoughts right back home.

This was my first big vacation since purchasing the Manor and starting this journey, and while I was enjoying new places and making memories, the Manor was never far from my mind. These photos are proof that it was never “out of sight, out of mind.”

More than anything, this trip reminded me how fortunate I am to have an incredible team. A very special thank you to Kelly Sweeney for the extra care, dedication, and attention she gave to overseeing the Manor while I was away. Knowing everything was in such capable and caring hands gave me the confidence to truly step away, recharge, and enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Owning a historic property is about more than preserving a building. It’s about trusting the people who help preserve its story every single day. Thank you, Kelly, for helping ensure the Manor continued welcoming guests with the same care and hospitality while I was away. ❤️

Now…it’s wonderful to come home, ready for the next chapter and all the celebrations still to come.
