This year marks 28 years of our annual Susan Coleman Castle of Cans! The campaign is held in conjunction with Hickory Oktoberfest and benefits eight local agencies in Catawba County who serve our needy: The Corner Table in Newton, Assure Ministry (formerly ECCCM), Exodus Homes, Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry, The Family Care Center, Hickory Soup Kitchen, Salvation Army and Second Harvest Food Bank Hickory.

We know that the problem of hunger in Catawba County remains. There are 20,376 individuals living at or below poverty, 6,093 are children and 2,781 are seniors. Last year, Second Harvest Food Bank distributed over 4.4 million pounds to the agencies in Catawba County!

And while the need is still great, the cost of food has increased significantly, and we are still experiencing many supply-chain issues.

This year with your help we will continue to raise online funds as well as collect cans to help support these key agencies serving families in need in our community. ๐ƒ๐ข๐ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐ค๐ง๐จ๐ฐ ๐ญ๐ก๐š๐ญ ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ $๐Ÿ ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐›๐ฎ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ฏ๐ข๐๐ž๐ฌ ๐š๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ฑ๐ข๐ฆ๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ง ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐ฌ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐จ๐? This year, 35 food and beverage vendors are bringing an incredible variety of festival favorites to Downtown Hickoryโ€”BBQ, egg rolls, dumplings, Mediterranean cuisine, pizza, hot dogs, sweet treats, frozen favorites, specialty drinks and, YESโ€ฆ German food too! ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿฅจ

A little tip: A vendorโ€™s name doesnโ€™t always tell you everything youโ€™ll find on their Oktoberfest menu! Several of our participating vendors will be serving German-inspired and traditional festival favorites, so be sure to explore the festival and check out those menus before deciding what to eat. โค๏ธ

Hickoryโ€™s Oktoberfest 2026 Main Stage Headliners

Celebrating its 39th year, this annual festival will be held October 9, 10, and 11, 2026 in Downtown Hickory NC.

Hickory's Oktoberfest is an outdoor festival held annually on the second weekend in October. It features two stages of live entertainment ranging from traditional polka to rock & roll, b**r gardens, an arts and crafts show, and hundreds of food and commercial vendors.

โ— Approve vendors outside of our official application process
