September 17-October 11, 2026

We're thrilled to announce that our season opener, THE SECOND BEST SCHOOL SHOOTING, a powerful new play that many of you may remember from our NextDraft reading series this spring.

Originally slated to receive its world premiere at NextStop, the play has been selected to make its world premiere at the renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival, an exciting milestone in its development! As a result, NextStop will now have the honor of presenting the play's U.S. premiere, bringing this remarkable new work to American audiences immediately following its international debut.

About the play: A U.S. Premiere dark comedy about grief, friendship, and what happens when one tragedy is eclipsed by another. As two best friends try to make sense of surviving a school shooting, they confront the brutally absurd and deeply human question: how do you grieve when the world has already moved on?
