Hi everyone,
This is Mychal and Justin, the directors of Opus Dance Movement.
Today, weâre stepping outside of our comfort zone and asking for your support.
When we started Opus, we didnât have a studio, a large budget, a staff, or a long list of resources behind us. What we did have was a vision: to create a place where young dancers could be challenged, encouraged, and genuinely cared for.
Over the last two years, weâve poured everything we have into making that vision a reality.
We wear a lot of hats. Between the two of us, we handle the choreography, rehearsals, competition preparation, marketing, scheduling, fundraising, parent communication, and all of the behind-the-scenes work that keeps this program moving forward.
But our role goes far beyond dance.
We check in on our dancers when theyâre struggling. We celebrate their successes in and out of the studio. We show up to support them at important moments in their lives. We make sure they know they have people in their corner who believe in them.
And somehow, with limited resources, no permanent studio space, and a fraction of the support that many established programs begin with, our dancers have accomplished things that many thought would take years to achieve. Theyâve earned placements, gained confidence, built friendships, and become part of something bigger than themselves.
Weâre incredibly proud of what weâve built together, but continuing to grow requires support.
