Directors Information on their work with Surf City Theatre
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
JP (John Patrick) Driscoll
JP joined Surf City a little over a year and a half ago
and made himself fairly indispensable right out of the gate!
Creating and helping to build sets, fireplaces & walls, (or whatever we came
up with a need for), but basically jumping in wherever & whenever he was needed!
JP has years of experience working in front of the camera as well as behind the scenes in Hollywood and worked with theatres throughout the country!
JP came to us when he attended our production of Agatha Christie's "The Mousetrap". He loved our space and the vibe of the company, so he approached us and asked if he could help out in any way.....Well, he shoulda been more careful about what he was
asking because we found MANY ways for him to contribute!!
He first acted for us in Surf City's fabulous "The Sunshine Boys" and then played the silent giant in our creepy, yet fun "The Deadly Game"! *(for which he built our incredible stone Fireplace, that we LOVE!)
JP directed last seasons very well-received Holiday show, "Making God Laugh" before deciding love was more important than us and he moved back east to be with his Starr!
(We miss him, but are thrilled he can join us through "Zoom")!!

Regan Floria McCraley
Regan found Surf City, (or we found her), when she married long-time Surf City friend and actor Lorin McCraley! She is the embodiment of artistic creativity and completely giving in the sharing of her knowledge and craft! We are blessed to have her in our Company!
We are fortunate in that she has acted for us in "Tribute" and she
has directed two of our wonderful shows in "Arsenic & Old Lace" and the fantastic "Moonlight & Magnolias" (where she also got to direct her husband, Lorin!)
Regan has been in the business since the age of 3! Acting, singing,
songwriting, directing and as a choreographer!
She lists Surf City Theatre as her "favorite artistic community to work in"! (& we love her for that!!) 😉

Nicole (Nikki) Parsons
Nikki came to Surf City during our Inaugural year, originally as a
Stage Manager when she SM'd for our 1st holiday show, "A Christmas Carol"!
She then subsequently SM'd for us with "Laughter on the 23rd Floor"; "Arsenic & Old Lace"; "Tribute" and "Moonlight & Magnolias" We found out how amazing of a Director she is and got her incredible talent for directing the critical and audience favorite, "A Few Good Men", the highly touted and Broadway World nominated "Steel Magnolias" as well as last years fabulous "The Deadly Game"!!
**Steel Magnolias garnered nominations in 5 categories!!
Best Play
Best Director (Nicole Parsons)
Best Lead Actress (Marquel Skinner Rogers as "Shelby")
Best Featured Actress (Sabrina Guyll as "Truvy)
Best Set Design
Nicole has been on the Surf City Board of Directors since its inception and has served as it's Secretary and also Vice President.
Nikki is the Chair for our Public Relations committee as well as teaching History, Film Production & Drama at South High School in Torrance!
(Nikki is a very busy lady...!)

Perry Shields
Perry is a well known and loved face and presence in the South Bay artistic community!
Being in high demand throughout our theatrical community, we feel fortunate to have had Perry step into a few different roles for us over the years, both acting and directing!
He came to us in our 3rd full year, as an actor, in the fun "Arsenic & Old Lace"! Perry also acted in our first ever Company Member production, "A Night Of Durang"!
On the Directors side we have been fortunate to have had him working his magic on the heartfelt "Tribute" and the incomparable Neil Simon's, "Plaza Suite"! Perry also was gracious in "Mentor Directing" some of our Company Members as they tried their hand at directing last years Co. Member production of Kurt Vonnegut's "Who Am I This Time...and Other Conundrums of Love"!!
Besides being on everyone's short list to work with in our theatre community, Perry is also the Film Appreciation & Drama teacher at
Oscar de la Hoya Animo Charter High School
(We are thankful that he was able to make the time to join us for this discussion!!)
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
These are all very busy, in-demand people within their respective fields and we are so thankful and blessed that they have taken the time to join us and share some of their talents and industry wisdom with us!!
Thank you!!
