So many rave reviews for Working in the North Country, but not everyone loved it. There were some comments by employers in the private sector who felt it portrayed employers as all evil. There were no employers portrayed, unless you count the one small dairy farm owner who had one neighbor help them on the farm. This was not a play about employers, it was about workers and working, especially those who gain lower wages. But, we are here together and need one another. How do we work it out, so everyone wins? For those employers who work hard to make sure their employees have good pay and working conditions, kudos to you. What challenges do you face to provide that? How can we as a community support that kind of workplace? Let's figure it out together. Join us for a Community Conversation on Poverty, looking especially at work, May 22 at the Canton Free Library. Time TBD.
